Pregnant for 46 YEARS!

Yes, forty-six. Huh go figure.

This lady was pg 46 years ago, the baby was never delivered, she subscribed to a local belief that is called "sleeping baby". And that the baby would come out when it was ready. She went on to adopt 3 children and they had children. 46 years later she was having sever pains, went to the DR and he suspected ovarian tumor. Went in and had a detailed scan that revealed a BABY that was conceived approx 47 years before.

WTH! Yikes!

It is on TLC right now. Wierd.

I just turned it on after seeing this thread. She had seen a woman die in childbirth and pretty much ran from the hospital and made herself forget about the fetus. She was too terrified to go through with the operation.

She ended up having to go back because she was in a huge amount of pain. It's crazy- they are showing the actual procedure on the TV right now. It was calcified and melded to her intestinal wall and other organs. CRAZY!!

she was afraid and stuck with the sleeping baby belief--you have to remember this wasn't america. this was casablanca 50 years ago. the mass turned to stone (calcified) and fused to her abdominal cavity.

sparx is right...i think 7th months in you'd know your were pregnat..and even if you didnt wouldnt it hurt earlier than 46 years???

she knew she was pregnant. the baby died in the womb. she was afraid and fled the hospital. remember this was basically a third world country at the time. the baby had been far enough along that it wasn't absorbed by the womb. it began to calcify. 46 years later it was removed.

Well, I guess it took a while for her to decide she was in enough pain to go to the doctor. Who knows...

she did have excruciating pain...but was afraid of the doctors and such.
and i have trouble going to the dentist! geez. can't imagine.

I am totally surprised that the dead fetus did not lead to decomposition, infection, and death of th mom.
