Yikes! Yippee! Hmmm.....you're the second to know...I'm pregnant! I'm sure there are other posts about this, but I'm not up for searching!

Well, this is a blessing, and a sort of planned one at that, but still a surprise! Anyway, we along with DD's 9 and 11 have plans for WDW at the end of May. Absolutely can't cancel, although the selfish side of me is saying,"rats, now I can't have fun!". I know, I know, of course I can have fun, it's just that I can't imagine not riding some of the stuff with the girls. Luckily I'll only be barely 3 months along so hopefully other than being tired I won't be dealing with "bigness" yet!

So, what's off limits that I might not naturally think of? My BIG question...how about Soarin'??? That's really the one I want to try so badly! It doesn't SOUND like it's off limits...does anyone know?

Anyway, I'd love some encouragement from others who have gone before me! DH is no help...he can't believe the thought of WDW even popped into my head at all! So come on, ladies, give me the scoop! :goodvibes

Thanks!

Congrats fellow Texan.

My DW will be at Disney in May and she is expecting out first child.

Hope you have a great one.

I wouldn't think Soarin' would be off limits. I think there's a section about this on allearsnet. Just heed the warnings at the rides, keep yourself hydrated, and use plenty of sunscreen. Have a great trip!

We've done Soarin' at DCA and I don't think it would be a problem for you. It's a very smooth ride, enjoy!

Hope

Congrats!!!!

Soarin' is no prob. Its a great smooth ride. You sit in these little seats, then they raise up and you think you are flying. The only problem with it, is people who get motion sick from large Imax style screens, and "flying" on the screen if you know what I mean. My mom, can't watch anything like that. She can go if she closes her eyes! :p

I've done Disney pregnant, and I think you could do just about anything you want at 3 months pregnant. Do you usually get nausea? I think if you have easy pregnancies you'll be fine, my doc didn't restrict me to anything. If I felt ok, it was fine.

Another Flower Mounder! Congrats on the new baby! :cool1:

We just got back from a terrific week in DisneyWorld, and I'm 18 weeks pregnant. I was really concerned with missing out on a lot and not having as much fun as I've had before, but I had a great time! I talked to my doctor before hand, and she advised me to "use my best judgement" with regards to rides. She said to obviously stay away from the "wild" ones, but other than that - have a great time! So... I did! Some (I'm sure) would disagree, but I rode Space Mountain, Splash, Big Thunder, Star Tours & Test Track which all say you shouldn't ride while pregnant. I really don't consider those that "wild"... (Big Thunder did seem pretty rough, so I didn't ride that as much as DH and DS did.) I did stay away from ToT, RnR & Mission:Space because I feel those are slightly more "wild" than the others. This is all just MY opinion though, so be sure to check with your doctor!! I'm not "high-risk" and I haven't had any complications, so I'm sure this is why she was so lenient with me.

I really wish I would have known that Soarin' was doing soft openings while we were there! I definitely would have tried it out! It sounds like a great attraction!

Other than the rides, I took it easy... I made sure to drink lots of water, eat when I was hungry, and rest when I was tired. We had a lot of fun!

I rode Space Mountain and the Matterhorn while five months pregnant and had a blast!

I went to Euro-Disney while five months pregnant. I had the trip already booked when I found out, so against the advice of my dad, I went anyways. Overall, I had a great time, I just had to go at a slower pace. Getting the exercise will be very good for you, and it isn't hard to make healthy eating choices while at Disney! (Try Boma or Jiko, the veggie sandwich at Tusker House) I stayed off of Space Mountain, but had no problem on Big thunder (My favorite ride) Star Tours probably was not the wisest choice to ride though. I was able to brace myself with my feet, but I think it might be a problem who is not exactly the same size as I am. I think your biggest problem will be if you are sick to your stomach or have to pee frequently. Rather than waiting until I REALLY had to go to look for a bathroom, I made a point to stop nearly each time I passed by a bathroom. I also think you'd do best to avoid Space (in Epcot). There are lounges in each of the parks for nursing moms, so if you need a quiet place to relax that is air conditioned, I'd inquire about them. There is one near Space Mtn. and one near Casey's/Crystal Palace. I'm not sure about the other parks.
Overall, I thought to play it cautious - which is more important - your child or riding the rides. Just think about how much fun you'll have riding the rides with your child in a few years.
WDW has quite a few rides that you will be able to go on - so it isn't like going to Six Flags or IoA. I'd avoid IoA this trip or you'll just be watching everyone else going on the rides.

:flower: Hi, neighbor! I'm so glad to hear you had a great time! I know I'll have to talk to my doctor about it all - guess I'd better call Monday and get in there as we just found out yesterday! It sounds as though Soarin' shouldn't be a no-no and that's my main concern. This is all so crazy - my DD's are 9 and 11.....I'm a little nervous as I turned 36 this week and I've heard that's the big change-over number that makes me an official OLD mother! Thank goodness I've watched several friends go through this this year and they said it really wasn't any different than it was at 25. Here's hoping!

DH just can't believe my mind is on WDW...he forgets that that's where my mind already was, now there's just a new angle to consider!!!

Thanks guys!

Just chiming in to say that I was there March 14-21, 29 weeks pregnant, and I had a great time. I skipped Splash Mt and AK Safari, but I did do Big Thunder Mt and Star Tours - pretty random, I know - they definitely err on the safe side in the warnings for pregnant women, but they're also very accomodating if you deide to try it but then change your mind - at the Safari, I didn't bail until the last minute, and a CM led me out a special way and was generally very helpful and nice about it. Oh - I didn't even think about doing Space Mt, ToT, etc etc.

My biggest problem, which wasn't so bad, was needing to use the bathroom so often - I basically just went every time I saw one which was a drag but worked well, I never got frantic looking for one.

Just play it safe and absolutely stay hydrated - I agree with the poster above who said all the walking will do you good - even though I got tired, it was definitely good for me!

Congratulations!

In 1990 I found out I was pregnant the day before we left to take my 2 1/2 yo son for the first time. As my previous pregnancy (and my first) had been a miscarriage, and I had bleeding with my son's pregnancy, the doctor wanted me to take it really easy. I skipped Body Wars and BTMRR. The most important thing is to keep hydrated and rest when you are tired. I made out fine and had no ill effects from the trip.

In 1993 I was 5 months pregnant with our 3rd son, and since I was feeling well, I did not require as much rest. I still watched the rides and consumed plenty of water. I did swim in the pools, but avoided the water slides.

It was very exciting to be able to go in 1995 and not be pregnant!

Hello,

Congratulations!

Yes, I went in January and I was around 15 weeks pregnant. I had no problem whatsoever. I rested when I needed to, which was never. I ate a lot of wonderful food and gained no weight. I did have constipation issues so bring along fiber pills. Drink lots of water.

I don't know about soarin.

Have fun and enjoy.
