Anyone been to Disney while pregnant? My husband and I planned a trip for this October and I will be about 17 weeks pregnant. I am considering cancelling the trip. We do not have any children so it would be just us.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Nicole

<congratulations>
I have been to Disneyland when pregnant. I went once when I was about 7 months along and never went again in that condition. The problem was that I had no problems what so ever. I didn't have the self-control to take it easy or stay off of rides I wasn't supposed to ride. I rationalized that any ride was still safer than a car ride with DH driving! Everything was of course fine, but my next two pregnancies, I did NOT go to Disneyland with the rest of the family. This was just easier than trying to be good once I get there. Just follow the rules if you can and enjoy your trip. If you are not able to stay off of Space Mountain or some of the other fun rides, reschedule for a better time.

Depends on what sort of Disney person you are. If you are an all-thrill-rides-all-the-time person it might be better to wait. If you like the leisurely strolling and gentler rides well enough to make that the focus of your trip, go ahead and go.

Consult your doctor. Follow the ride restrictions. Beyond that it comes down to whether you will enjoy a somewhat modified Disney experience.

I went when I was 15 weeks pregnant. I wasnt showing at all and felt great. I stayed off the rides like Dinosaur, RnR and Tot, but was still able to ride a ton of stuff. I would say go!

I went to Disney World this past April when I was 20 weeks pregnant for a short trip. I wasn't showing and felt really good....I did get tierd easily. You can do it, just plan for a slower pace! Book a few TS meals so you can rest more and make sure you drink lots of water and schedule nap times each day! Congratulations!!

I went to WDW at 17 weeks pregnant in September 2005 for my son's 5th birthday. We had a wonderful trip. I rode quite a few rides and my doctor was very supportive of the trip. We also drove 10 hours to get there which was not terrible. The only issue I had was that it was still fairly hot... maybe you will be a little cooler in October.

no way would i cancel. i've been 2 wdw twice whilst pregnant...6 weeks along and 20-something weeks along. The 2nd tri is the perfect time to go!

Congratulations!!!!

I'd go! Enjoy your last trip as just a couple, before the baby comes. Vacations are special when you go with kids, but can be just as special before they arrive! You will never get the chance to experience WDW without kids again, so go for it!!!!:thumbsup2

I also went at 4 months and 5 months pregnant. I was able to do quite a bit but I did take frequent rests...Drink lots of water too!

Congratulations!!

I've been to WDW at various stages of pg. I've been when I was about 13 weeks and clueless that I was pg so that trip I rode everything and anything (that whole ignorance is bliss saying, lol). Have been at six months and eight months. In October the weather shouldn't be Africa hot so staying hydrated won't be as big of a problem as in the summer months.

My biggest tips would be to talk with your OB so that you are comfortable with your decisions, listen to your body, slow down a little but still enjoy what could be your last couples only trip for awhile. :)

At about 17 weeks you should just be over any nausea and morning sickness and feeling much better. You will begin to feel like your old self again and even have a bit more energy. Although you will tire sooner than you would if not pregnant, your 2nd trimester is the perfect time for a last husband & wife trip. Many people take "baby-moons" around this time; you will enjoy Disney together as a special celebration of your new life.

Enjoy!

I went when I was about 5.5 months pregnant with my first child. I considered this my babymoon! My DH and I had been multiple times before and always went the less expensive route and stayed off site or at a value resort - which all were fine. But this time we splurged big time and stayed at AKL. My theory was that if I was going to be there, that I needed to take breaks during the day at the resort and I wanted a nice one to do it at. We went to the pool a lot and just took it easy around the resort. As for the parks, the list is short of what you shouldn't do. This is just off the top of my head, so if I missed any, please correct me:
- Tower of Terror
- Rock n' roller coaster
- Test Track
- Mission Space
- Mountains - splash, space, and big thunder
- Dinosaur
- Primevil Whirl
- Barnstormer

When you look at it this way, the list of what you can't do is much shorter than what you can do!
We went with the mindset that it was going to be a relaxing vacation. We saw alot of shows and just took our time throughout the park. I have to admit that it was hard passing up RRC and other thrill rides, but we definitely made up for it with food and relaxation. I say definitely go for it unless you are going to be really bummed about missing the rides.

Also, people said that Kilimanjaro Safari was one of the ones you should skip. I did it and made sure to ride in the front of the truck because it's less bumpy there. All was fine.

Plus, I get to tell my DD that she's already been to Disney once in my tummy. She gets a kick out of that! Congrats on the pregnancy!

congrats!!!!!

That would be a tough call for me because I LOVE the thrill rides...actually DH doesn't so I go on them alone!! :rotfl:

I definitely felt better in T2 though so I wouldn't worry about being tired or feeling nauteous...but everyone is different so you never know. I would probably do it if we had other things to do around WDW, like driving to the beach, or Busch Gardens, other stuff that you would be able to do and not be disapponted about missing all the fun rides that PG woman aren't allowed...good luck with your decision!:)
