My family has decided they really want to visit Blizzard Beach while we are at WDW in June, but I can't seem to find much information as to what I can do while there. I see some height requirements for some of the slides which I would take as meaning no pregnant ladies either, but would I be able to enjoy some of the other slides without restrictions? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

you should not do waterslides while pg....

this is from babycenter.com

Cross waterslides and most amusement park rides off your list, too, since a forceful landing or sudden acceleration or deceleration could harm your baby. Some studies show that raising your temperature during early pregnancy can increase the risk of birth defects, so you should avoid hot tubs and Jacuzzis, as well.

The wave pool is gentle and you can do the lazy river to cool off.

Otherwise I can't imagine you should go on the slides.

But I would still go, get there early, find a nice shady area to camp out, put your feet up, get yourself a cool drink and relax......read.......nap.......all that assuming your family can play without your help.

At the risk of crossing into TMI territory, the special reason that you shouldn't do waterslides (as opposed to say, playground slides) is that the downward speed of your body's movement puts you at risk of sending water into the vag1na with some force. It can lead to infection, possibly dislodge the mucous plug, and in severe cases, even contribute to placental abruption. You should avoid jumping feet-first into deep water for the same reason.

A friend of mine just got back last week from WDW. She is six months pregnant and they went to Blizzard Beach. The rest of the family had a great time, but she was misrable. All of the slides had signs prohibiting pregnant women. She had a great time watching everyone else, but did feel some what left out.

See that's what I am really afraid of. Though maybe since my youngest is only 3 I can spend some time with him in the kiddie areas while my DH and my 13 yr old go play on the slides. I was really hoping to do the family raft ride with my kids and DH, but I guess that is out of the question also. I don't want to be bored the entire time that I am there. I can still hit the wave pool though and the lazy river which is more than you get at the pool or beach so how bad can it really be??

I wanted to thank everyone for their advice and input. Since I had a doctors appt today I decided to ask my doctor his thoughts on what I can and can't do. He advised me that anything where I would be going feet down into the water is a NO-NO for exactly the reason the previous poster stated above. However, he said that since I am not very far along that I can do anything where I am on an intertube or raft, and anything where I can go down head first. I asked him if that meant I could lay on my belly for a slide and he said that was fine, that there was enough cushoning (sp?) around the baby that it wouldn't hurt anything. So it looks like I will be enjoying myself a little bit more than I originally though. Thanks again so much.

I went to Blizzard Beach twice while pregnant. After visiting the parks, I loved just floating on the lazy river part of it. I did not miss any slides. The wave pool, if by the shore, is not bad. But you'll love the river.

Thanks for posting this. We just got back from VB and had a great time. I was going to use the water slide at 6 months pregnant, not thinking much of it. But I never got around to it. (I did take DD down the "kiddy slide" with me because she was scared.)

I am now glad I didn't try the slide, but I think it would of been fine, but then again why take the risk? There will be plently of other times I am not pregnant.

BTW, we have done BB pregnant, and I am happy just just do the lazy river and water pool and play with 3 year old DD. Infact there is is much fo the little ones to do there, you won't be bored at all. Bring your camera!
