Just wondering if anyone has rode the safari ride at AK while pregnant and why there is a pregnancy restriction when even babies are allowed to ride. TIA!

I've seen people post that they have.

I believe it has something to do with the bumpiness... Can cause the placenta to detach or something like that.

Ah, thanks I was trying to search for it, but couldn't find it under the pregnancy threads I saw!

The ride can be bumping/jarring. Saying that I did it 30 weeks pregnant and did not find it to be a problem. I sat closer to the front/middle. You have to know yourself and your body if you think it may be an issue.

I'm not pregnant (and never plan to be pregnant again) but if I were, I don't think I'd hesitate to ride the safari, or several other of the rides that are not recommended for pregnant women, but it would depend on how I felt overall and what stage of the pregnancy I was in.

The bumpiness would have set off my nausea in the first trimester.

Now, last year (Sept 2015), I was 24 weeks at the time of travel and I did ride the safari. I requested to sit in the front and the amount of bumpiness was greatly reduced.

Obviously if you have an irritable uterus or something, I wouldn't ride it.

I did it at 24 weeks pregnant. If you ask for the front row you're totally fine. My family had to split up, I was in the front row and they were in the back. My mom was a nervous wreck for me because how "bumpy" it was. I didn't feel any bumps being in the front row. I had just come off a modified 1st trimester bedrest too, but the front row is not any bumpier than your average car ride.

I'm debating on the safari.... It would probably be OK but it's not a chance that I'm willing to take.... I would never forgive myself if something happened because of a ride.... restrictions are in place for a reason, and without riding the safari, I will probably skip AK all together :(

I did ride safari at 20 weeks pregnant, and it honestly seemed more bumpy to me than usual. Not sure if that is due to heightened sensitivity and paranoia but I kind of regretted riding it.

That being said, DS came out just fine, lol :goodvibes

I did it 27 weeks pregnant and had no issues. I didn't find it any more rough than even things like turbulence on the plane ride down to Disney.

We were randomly talking with a CM and asked how the judge things like pregnancy restrictions. Its more of an extreme precaution than anything else. Liability they have to make note, it's up to you if you want to ride or not. More of a concern for them would be if something extreme happened to the Jeep while on the safari and they had to exit people off. Would you be able to either sit and wait for a second Jeep or walk where they needed you to?
