I am planning on going to Disneyland in California in April, I will be 4 months pregnant and would like to know what rides I will not be able to ride on?

you can ride most of the rides - it just depends on how you feel and what the ride is - when i was pregnant w/my second i was about 3 month pregnant and didn't go on space mountain (stayed to watch my 2 yo) but did go on body wars - i had no back problems - there was no rock & roll coaster - or tot - but most other rides are not that bad

I went when I was 7 months pregnant, and I just pretty much looked at their warnings they had posted outside of the rides. I knew of course not to ride the roller coasters or anything rough. I agreed with all of them except Soarin'... I really wanted to ride, but I didn't since they had a warning. I think it's a smooth ride and wouldn't have hurt anything, but I didn't want to risk anything with my little one.

When I was 2 months pregnant with my first child, which was almost 5 years ago, there was no warning on the Safari at AK, and I rode. It was rather rough. When I was pregnant with my other one, I noticed they had added a warning for the Safari as well.

I say just use your best judgment and enjoy! :goodvibes

If I were you, I'd speak with your doctor prior to your trip for their opinion on the matter.

In 2010 we went to WDW while I was pregnant (I was almost 4 months along) and really the only rides I avoided were either coaster type rides or anything I knew was particulary bumpy. I would definitely avoid rides like Indiana Jones if I were you, but like I said I'd speak with my doctor before hand.

i agree with williebearsmom...i don't get the warning for sorin. i'd just stay away from the rollercoasters/rough rides.

I would say that all of the rides that would be no no's for a pregnant woman already come with warnings for those with health concerns. If you avoid any of them then you should be fine. But I also agree with the PP who advised you to check with your doctor about this before you leave.

I would think that MAYBE nausea was the reason for pregnant women (on Soarin') but ????

You can ride anything my 2 year old will be able to ride pretty much. With the exception of Matterhorn. Anything you see babies going on, you can go on unless you have a medical reason not to (besides just pregnancy lol). I'd def check with your doc to be sure, however :)

I'm not expecting and I'm not planning to get pregnant in the near future..

Still... I'm wondering why a pregnant woman can't ride those rides and what the true reason is. Is it because of the bumpy rides that might cause a detachment of the placenta or is there any other reason?

to me most DL rides are like going on a carrousel, I can keep a straight face on all of them, even TOT. I don't feel any fright and I always feel great at them.

Some simulators in other places as museums and such, they have given me motion sickness but not rides at DL (with the exception of my husband being in charge of the wheel in the teacups, that can make me QUITE dizzy :P)

so I'm wondering if i one day get pregnant, will i still be unable to go on all those rides even if i feel perfectly safe and good during the rides?

I'm asking because I guess my question (and any answers you can provide) can be useful for some future mommies who are thrill ride lovers :)

There is a lot of reasons why you shouldn't, one is a displacement of the placenta, but a lot of those rides can be rough on the body and youre growing a small person inside you, really why take te risk of the baby having a problem when born? I believe it can cause still born and miscarriages.

Also just because your okay on the rides now doesn't mean you'll "feel good" when on them pregnant, your body is not the same most of them time. Plus I don't think the seat belt on some of those rides could fit around and the lap bar pressing into you or if you have a sudden jerk forward could do a lot of damage.

There is a reason why they say one whom is prengnant houldn't ride, I think its one thing that shouldn't be questioned.

The biggest is usually placenta detachment, yes. Also raising your blood pressure. Extra stress on your body already from being pregnant could lead to heart problems.

thank you both! I was just curious to know if there truly was a health risk or if it was just due to possible guests suing the company

thanks for your explanations :D

I just wanted to add that when I went to DL when pregnant, I just went by the guideline of anything without a height requirement. After a couple of days, I missed the rush the rougher rides provided, so to get a bit of a thrill I went on the swinging gondolas on Mickey's Fun Wheel. No height requirement, not bumpy or rough but one heck of a thrill!

I'm pregnant right now and I am very bummed about not being able to ride Indiana Jones. I think that is one I will REALLY miss :(

But yes, if you don't have any other health risks during pregnancy (per your doctor) then I'd go by the rule of thumb that whatever a baby/toddler can ride, you can ride.

i went to disneyland this past August with my DH and i was 26 weeks pregnant with our son and i heeded most of the warnings for the rides but there were 2 rides i rode which i HAD to ride it was like a food craving i had to ride Splash Mountain and BTMRR which i did with no problems YES i probably shouldnt of but with splash i did something i hated and sat in the front *** there was more room for my belly and sat at the back of BTMRR so there was less jerking

I try not to be a Debbie Downer in these type of posts. I went to Disney when I was 4 1/2 months pregnant. I was cautious of the rides but still went on several. I miscarried 2 weeks after I got home. I will always question if it was because I was not as careful as I should have been.

When my wife was about 6 months pregnant with our now 5 year old boy, I took her on a "babymoon" to Walt Disney World. We knew that we couldn't go on any thrill rides so we took the opportunity to do the things that we would never really do if we were NOT pregnant and were standing in line for coasters and thrill rides.

For example, we explored every country pavilion at Epcot. We searched for Hidden Mickeys at the Magic Kingdom, and we watched every show we could find. We stayed at the Yacht Club resort and ate a lot of yummy food, went swimming, and walked over to the Disney miniature golf course and played a few rounds. We had a blast doing all of those things that we couldn't do due to her pregnancy!

This is exactly what we did. We were there for a conference anyways and I was very cautious (about 28 weeks along) and didn't go on anything bumpy (except the dip in Pirates) or rough. But I also focused on things I wouldn't usually think to do - took the Walt's footsteps tour, ate at Blue Bayou, looked around at the WOC display (it was being built at that time), went to a lot of the shows/parades I usually skip. Of course it would be different if you were traveling WITH children and needed couldn't fit that "boring" stuff in.
