Our DDIL has MS and will be traveling to WDW with prefilled syringes. What is the latest info with TSA regs? What have been your experiences? She will need to use a cooler also to transport them. Ice block? TIA!

DH (also has MS) took his in Sept and we had no problems. His are not required to be refrigerated so we didn't have a cooler - they were just in a fanny pack.

When his previous meds needed to stay cool, we just used those ice packs you stick in the freezer. We put them each in a ziploc bag and put the syringes in between. Worked great!

If you are staying at a value, tell them and you can get your fridge at no extra charge, but you have to tell them it's for medication.

My DD is diabetic and we just traveled to WDW last month. She had no problem carrying on her insulin pens. I did however, have a note from Joslin just incase...I also made sure her names were on the boxes (the boxes that the 5 prefilled syringes come in) But truthfully they didnt even look at that. Must be something they're used to...we had no problem at all. We also carried on her glugagon emergency kit and diabetic gel.

Have fun on your trip!!

I had no problem carrying my Humira for RA on the plane. I went through customs and then security. I told them about it and I had a letter from my doctor but they didn't even glance at it. It is very expensive and needs to be refridgerated. I have a little carry bag (like a lunch bag) and I kept the syringe packaged in the box and then put two icepacks inside. It cannot freeze. POR had fridges in the room so that was not a problem.

My mother has to take Sumatriptan by injectionand has not had any problems taking it in her carry-on. I believe she does carry a Doctors note just in case.

I just checked the TSA guidelines on carrying on medication; you may want to look it over:

I would suggest checking the TSA site a few days prior to travelling to make sure nothing has changed.

I also have MS and take Rebif for it. I have a small case with room for the auto injector, prefilled syringes, alcohol wipes, etc. It also has a section for the freeze-able pack that came with the kit to keep the meds cold. The first time I had to go through airport security with it was in June, and I had NO problems with it. In fact, I was pulled to the side so they could hand search my carry on, and I thought it was for the pack. The TSA guy said "No, that stuff's fine" and kep looking. He finally found a tiny swiss-army knife that I forgot I had at the bottom of a bag in my purse, and confiscated it! But they didn't look twice at the syringes.

Most recently, in October, was equally as easy. The airport had papers so you could "declare" any liquid medications, and I threw the whole pack in one of the plastic baggies for good measure, but they didn't say anything about it. I think they're used to seeing that type of stuff.

At the most, I would be sure to have your prescription (or note from doctor) with your name and the info about the meds with the medication, just in case. And the resorts on property will give you a fridge to keep it in, no probs.

That is a good thing to remember. It may ne new to us, but the TSA screeners see these things all the time.

If you are staying at a Moderate, delux or Home Away From Home (DVC) resort, they all include refrigerators in each room. For the Value resorts, you would need to request one for medical needs.
