Preferred Location Rooms At Riverside?

I just had a live chat with a CM on the WDW web site. We are booking a package at Port Orleans Riverside and want a room close to the parking lot and food court. The Cast Member told me I had to book and pay for a preferred room at POR to get that request but when booking the trip I only saw boxes to check for Water/Pool View or Standard View. Are there even preferred location rooms available to book at Riverside? I know they have them at CBR and the All Stars but wasn't sure about Riverside.

The only 'preferred' rooms at POR are those with any kind of water view...proximity to the food court makes no difference. But, last June we stayed in bldg 14, in AB. It was right at a parking area, and the closest bldg to the food court. I would just make those requests....close to the food court and a parking lot.

POR doesn't have a room category for preferred buildings. CBR is the only moderate with preferred buildings costing extra nightly.

I thought that was true! Sometimes the guests more more than the CM's. :confused3

At POR you can choose from standard, waterview or king.

They switched from standard and waterview on Jan 1st. So if you booked your 2006 package in early 2005 you only had the two choices. Since that time they give you a choice of paying for the king bed room which is located on the corners of the AB buildings. The price is the same for a waterview room.

They will note your request during your reservation.

I just booked our package today and was offered water view or standard view only. I chose standard because I don't care if we can see the pool or the river from our window nor do we need a king bed. We have a family of 3.

Then the king bed rooms are probably all booked! They have a limited number of king bed rooms available.

My wife and I have a king bed room at POR booked for Jan '07, as does her mother and father. They have charged us at the regular season rate for a king room until the 2007 rates come out. I anticipate the rates dropping by about 5-10 dollars to the value norms for january.
