Preferred CBR or POP...worth it?

I am curious to fin dout if any one thinks that these 2 preferred areas at the resorts are worth the extra money for. Are they that much closer? Is the CBR that much better than the POP preferred? Is there any difference in the rooms? I know at CBR you get a microwave, is that it??

Just fidling around with some numbers and trying to come up with a vacation game plan that will let me do a split stay at either of these resorts and stay at the WL also.

The rooms at CBR have refrigerators! No microwaves. We've never stayed at POP, but the rooms at CBR are much larger. We love CBR for many reasons - Beautiful grounds, white sand beaches, hammocks by the lake, Caribbean music playing quietly everywhere, a relaxing tropical feel, a beautiful bridge and island, great and huge food court, friendly CM's, double sinks in the bathroom with LOTS of storage space underneath, and the LARGEST rooms of all the moderates! All that, PLUS a new pool. It’s like a vacation within a vacation, a “leave your worries at the door” kind of place! :goodvibes

I couldn't have said it better myself and I can't agree more! We just stayed at Pop this summer, and it was fine but it just wasn't CBR!!! Can't wait to be back at CBR in June!!!:cool1:

Silly questions, but how were the beds? I heard the beds at POP are rock hard...are they really. I need a softy bed to sleep on.

I've never stayed at POP, but can ditto the response above.....CBR is beautiful....and I've stayed at both standard and preferred. Preferred is much closer to OPR, but the standard stay was at Jamaica and just a short (4-5 minute walk) to OPR. And the beds are comfortable!!:goodvibes

I've stayed at POP several times. I don't think the beds are "rock" hard. Of course, by the time we get back from the parks either our heads hit the pillow and we fall asleep or our we fall asleep then our heads hit the pillow. We aren't quite sure about the sequence but the results are the same.

The POP is an awesome resort with excellent themes. I think everyone really needs to stay at POP at least once. The Remembrance Walk is a must do. The pools are great and the Goofy's Pop Jet area is great for toddlers.

I have stayed in both and I much prefer POP over CBR anyday. But I don't really care for bus system at any of the moderates. Pop is just so much fun. I couldn't really tell any difference in the bed at either one except that I think CBR are queen and Pop are full. We really don't spend that much time in the room anyway so the cheaper the better.

I've never stayed at Pop only the CBR. We did visit Pop during our 8/9 to 8/16 stay (at the CBR). They were replacing ALL the mattresses at Pop. They were actually doing it while we were there.

Hummmm.....I am still undecided as to which one. I am taking my 77 y.o. mother with me for a get away. We will be going over my fathers birthday, whom just passed away in April. So, with his B-day and halloween being their favorite holiday, I thought she needed to just get away. The grieving has been really hard on all of us, especially her. I just want a comfortable bed and close to the food courts. We will have our car, so the buses don't matter much. She is looking forward to decorating the room window and being a 'kid' again.

Have you thought about Port Orleans? It is beautiful and they have a boat that will take you to Downtown Disney. You may want to look at pictures of the different resorts to see what appeals to you:

Port Orleans (just because I like this one too):

French Quarters

I love Pop Century, and I can't really explain why except seeing all of those icons from the different decades makes me smile.

CBR didn't really do anything for me, but I know many love it.

Port Orleans was so lovely and it was like a vacation all by itself just being there (and it is actually two resorts together with two different themed pools and different restaurants and we loved taking the surry bikes around the lake there and riding the boat to DTD).

Hope your mother enjoys the trip.

See if yoy can get Port Orleans French Quarter, it is the smallest moderate and nothing is more than a 5 minute walk. I believe you will be pleased and your mom will be as well. Very beautiful grounds. You can ride the boat to DTD and go to POR as well. POFQ does not have a full service restaurant but POR does. If your mom can walk alot then POR is great as well. There is a path by the river which takes you to POR too and it is a lovely walk as well.

Sorry about your dad, I know how is is. Mone has been gone now 18 years he passed very young and I still miss him to this day and always will. I was a Daddy's Girl:goodvibes . Hope you and your mom have a great time and that is great that you and she can help to releave your missing him and remember him in a happy way with Disney.pixiedust:

tinkerrn,

I have stayed at CBR (its been a while) twice and loved it and I have stayed Pop (3 days in June). I went kicking and screaming to Pop and I was ready to hate it. Turns out it is a great place too - a lot of fun!

I think the preferred rooms at CBR is worth it (not the water view though). You WILL do a lot of walking at CBR because it is huge. Pop is not as big and some of the preferred rooms are not as close as the regular rooms.

I do not remember the beds at CBR. The beds at Pop were a little stiff. I do remember stepping on a snake at CBR though - no snakes at Pop!

I did not have any trouble with the buses at CBR, but the buses at Pop were awesome - very timely (in my meager 3 days experience...).

Room size at CBR is fairly big (for WDW). Pop is fairly small and cozy, enough room for DW, DD12, and me.

(I'm very sorry for your loss - but I'm glad you, mom, and the rest of your family are getting back into circulation - and WDW is the perfact place to do it. Halloween is our favorite time of year and MNSSHP is a blast!!)
