Can anyone tell me if the Preferred Annual Pass expires 1 year from date of purchase or 1 year from 1st use? I have decided to get one of these because of the discount I can get at the HRH in April, plus all of the other discounts. Should I get it now, or wait until closer to the time I leave?

The UO PAP's expire one year from the date you first use them. Thereafter, they expire on the same date every year, whether you use them or not. For example: I first bought mine several years ago over the internet during the buy one, get one at half price deal in December. We then "activated" them at the park on Feb. 1st. We now have until Mar. 1st each year to renew at the $99. renewal rate, but they expire again on Feb. 1st of the following year, even if we do not use them again until later in the year.
Overall, I still think the UO PAP is the best deal around. The discounts on the food and merchandise are outstanding, plus the PAP rates at the resorts almost pay for passes themselves, and the free parking is a big bonus. Plus, being able to use them 365 days of the year, and renew them for only $99, is wonderful.

I bought my PAP for the same reasons: the great discount at on-site hotels (res. at HRH 2/5-2/8) and the food/merchandise discounts. I bought the ticket Jan 10, when they had the get 15 months for the price of 12 deal. It says good one year from activation or expires April 15, 2006, whichever comes first. My daughter will be heading back to IOA/US in May w/our high school band and even though those one day tickets have been paid for in advance, she'll be able to get some discounts on food and merchandise w/her pass. :D

the only thing that would make it complete is if the 10% at margaritaville covered drinks as well. :drinking1

Franny,
Does it have the date April. 15, 2006 as an expiration on the voucher ticket they sent you? I bought a PAP back in november through the website, same deal buy 12 months get 3 free. I did not see any expire date nor is there one on my ticket. Wondering if something changed from Nov to Jan. Thanks.

Immelman,
If you eat there and have a few drinks you dont get the discount? I usually hand them my AAA,FCC, and my AP and get the discount off the whole bill. Maybe my AAA has a better discount there? Hmmm gonna have to check that out now.

10 % off total bill minus the 'fun' drinks. I never thought about dropping mutiple cards with the checks, just the AP's

Jessica: I called yesterday and they said ALL the "buy PAP and get 15 months" tickets automatically activate January 15, 2005 and they ALL expire 15 months later--April 15, 2006. I cannot understand why it is not printed on the ticket (in your case) or the email receipt (in my case). Hope the April 2006 expiration still works out good for you. :cool1:

Franny just wanted to let you know I called Universal today about my AP and was told the AP would expire 15 months after activation. I also got it in writing. I wonder if somehow the rules changed between our dates of purchase?

Jessica: That really bothers me that I was possibly given the wrong info! I called Universal on-site ticket office! I will find out for sure when we go next weekend. There's no sense to call again since their answers obviously can't always be trusted.

Sorry to but in, but do either of you know, if you can park for free the first day, the reason i ask is that i have just bought an AP, i have been mailed the ticket, it says i need to exchange it for the AP once inside, so do i have to pay for parking until i get the real ticket??, thanks.

Manatee:

Sorry, never checked the parking situation out since we won't have a car while there.

I think, if you show them your ticket they sent at the parking garage "toll booths", you should be able to park for free.

Yes you can park for free, we just did it in December. We just showed the person in the booth our print out that showed we had purchased the AP no problem.

if you have a PAP do you still have to pay for resort parking?

Wow...what just happened?? I received my PAP in the mail. I went to the website address they give you for passholders to check out the specials. It prompts me to put in my annual pass # and pin #. I do this and the next screen that comes up says "Your annual pass will expire on March 6th 2006." How can that be?? I thought the pass started upon 1st use?? We arent even going until May!! Anyone know if this is right?

If it was a PAP renewal, they changed the expiration dates two years ago to be like Disney. They now expire every year on the same date, whether you use them or not.

Thanks ksdave. I just got off the phone with them. They say that the pass will begin upon first use. (This is the first time we have ever had an annual pass, not a renewal). Thanks again for the reply :goodvibes
