As I impatiently wait for ROFR, I'm attempting to plan another vacation before year end with a 3 night cruise tie-in.

Our availability to travel seems to be the first week or two of: October, November & December (either Sat-Weds or Sun-Weds). We really just need a studio for 3 people, but will do 1 BR if necessary. Home resort will be VWL. Upon reading the threads, it appears that we'll be lucky to get anything for that time period once approved mid-May (I hope, I hope!).

If all are booked, how difficult is it to get into the Contemporary/AK, aside from using up so many points?

Yes, I know patience is a virtue, but I'm fresh out.

When you call member services, they will tell you what is available and where. Those times are quite popular becauseo the F&W festival and the pre-Christmas shows.

Don't panic...you'll have many options for the time periods you are looking at.

Panic'ing seems to be the one thing I'm really good at.

Aside from wanting to go back to WDW this year, I don't want to get stuck with "banked" points that I won't be able to use. It's my understanding that I can't transfer them, but can I rent/sell them before my UY is up?

That is correct. And, if you choose to rent them, the stay must actually occur before the end of your UY (which is when the points are actually used.)

But, like I said, I don't think you'll have trouble getting a room at SOME resort during the time periods you listed.

If it helps, I just booked a GV the last week of September at OKW on Monday, and I couldn't believe it - it's only 5.5 months out. I also checked while I was on the phone about getting one and two bedrooms on the first two weeks of October (in case we couldn't go that early) and there were still rooms at OKW for those weeks. The only other thing I checked was standard view at BWV (not expecting to get it!) and they were all gone. But it does soound like you could get something - they were not worried about getting us a one and two bedroom at the same time at OKW in October.

Today, I was able to add December 13th to a studio ressie at the VWL. You have to wait, I know, but there's still availablility in December.

I am a newbie to all this. Just got our bid accpeted for BWV, expect it will all be concluded by late May/early June.

Anyway, we were hoping to go in mid November, after Veterans Day. Is that a busy DVC time? Is it not likely th eBWV will still be availble when we finally are able to make the reservation?

Thanks.

It isn't a stand-out busy time, but rooms at BWV, BCV and VWL are increasingly difficult to get year-round the further you get from the 7-month mark. You probably have a good shot at a Preferred Pool / Garden View but very little chance of getting Standard View or Boardwalk View.
