Figured I would start my day by day recap for our trip, as we got a lot of help by reading previous threads posted here to know what to expect and changed our plans at times based on suggestions here, so I thought by recapping our trip, it might help others in the future
Our background to Disney is relative newbies. The last time she was there was in 1986, and the last time I was there was at the turn of the millennium, Feb 2000. I proposed to her on 12/22, so we could "bask" in the engaged glow with family and friends before heading out on 12/26. As part of my surprise, my Christmas gift to her was this trip:
Sat, 12/26:
Originally we were not going to leave until later in the day, but once we got a list of who was doing what Candlelight Processional, I upgraded our tickets to get an earlier flight and added an additional park day, as we both like Edward James Olmos, so the first day, though short was slated for Epcot.
My father took us to the airport at 6AM so we could catch the 7:50 out of Dulles. We were using Magical Express, so once landing at MCO, a smooth and perfect bus ride with almost no wait later, we were at POFQ. Check-in took maybe 5-10 minutes, as we did online check-in, and the longest part was double checking our ADRs and explaining the merchandise credit rules. Our room was not ready, so after using the restrooms to freshen up, we checked our carry-ons with Bell Services, and caught the bus to Epcot.
A very short ride later, we were in Epcot, and for 12/26, it was packed, but was to be expected due to the boards. Almost 2 hour waits for the real biggies, and things like Spaceship Earth had a 50 min wait. We did Spaceship Earth, which she did not know was even a ride, and then did some shopping, Photopass pics, and sightseeing until our CP ADR at Rose and Crown at 3:30PM
We were seated almost immediately, and the food and service was above excellent. The server was friendly and talkative about England and about the parks so it was a great experience overall. She gave us our CP stickers, and we walked around for a while to help burn off some of that dinner. We stopped and watched the French street jugglers for a while and then off to CP.
Originally, like many here, I questioned using part of the DDP for a CP ADR, since it kills 2 units per person, but after seeing the packed 1st show and then the line for the Stand-By seating for our show, I was thankful I had the passes. We got very good seats, 5th row, almost dead center. My fiance is in the church choir where I manage, so we were just done with our Christmas services, but man, between EJO, the choir and the orchestra, we were both blown away by the service. It was amazing, and while I wish I could have a DVD of that performance, I settled on the CD they were selling afterwards from 2000.
At this point, we were bushed, so we skipped Illuminations, knowing we were coming back to Epcot later in the week, so we skedaddled out back to the bus, which did not have a long wait or a long line at that point since the park was still open, and we headed back. Our room was ready, and our luggage was there, so we unpacked, headed to the cafeteria for a quick snack, and then drifted off to sweet dreams til the next morning. We were in room #7148, first floor, back of the hotel overlooking the canal to Downtown Disney, so it was very quiet and a 2 min walk to the lobby/buses

- 7 day park hopper tickets
- 7 night stay at Port Orleans French Quarter
- Disney Dining Plan (1 Snack, 1 Quick Service, and 1 Table Service), with reservations made throughout already
- Plane tickets from Dulles, VA to Orlando
- $1000 Merchandise Credit (special promo for $695)
- And of course Disney knew that this was 1st visit (basically true) and engagement, which does play into the report at times
