We drove to Disneyland from northern BC this week. The trip was far more eventful than it was supposed to be. The first night started with an accident that closed the road - just 15 minutes from home. We waited for almost two hours before turning around to find an alternate route. The problem with rural areas is that alternate routes are a long way out of the way. We did manage to make it a few hours away before sleeping for the night, but it was two hours less than we had planned to make it.

The next night we slept in the Walmart parking lot in Merritt because we weren't able to find a spot to stop in Kamloops. The traffic in Seattle was awful and the truck's water pump broke on Saturday. In the meantime it took me an hour and a half at the Verizon store for them to figure out how to hook up my mobile wifi since I am Cdn.

We got back on the road on Sunday and got a call from step-daughter's mom - the grandma had passed away the night before. The mom had started to make travel arrangements to get SD home for the funeral.

We found an RV park in Crescent City for the next night, right on the beach, but it was cold there! Like 11C! WTH?? It was really foggy too.
DH drive all day to get us to LA at 3am so that we could get SD to the airport for a flight home today. Do you know how hard it is to find a place to park a 40' RV in LA? We ended up catching the corner of it on something and ripping it. Then we got stuck in rush hour traffic to get to The RV park.

BUT we are here now and we watched the fireworks from our RV spot while having a drink. SD flies back here on Thursday as well as my sister flying in that night. Our first day in Disney is on Friday.

Despite all the crap, spirits are still high.
Oh, and DH got an empty fortune cookie. Is that an omen?

Well, you know what they say...."poor start, good ending". If that's the case, you're in for one awesome trip once the fun gets started!!!!

Here's to smoother sailing for the remainder of your getaway. Keep us updated on how things go!
