I've read posts on another site that were not very flattering. My DS(5) and I will be spending close to $100, with pictures and dinner and is it really worth it? I'm thinking of cancelling my ressie.
I would say no, SoA is not worth it. I went with DD over her 4th birthday weekend and neither of us were that impressed. The food was okay, but the show left a lot to be desired. The story line is pretty lame - a girl who went to the mainland is returning home and is reminded of her roots. If I had read as many of the bad reviews on these boards before I went as I did after, I wouldn't have gone. I hear good things about HDDR (I haven't gone). My DD4 loved Dixie Stampede and Arabian Nights. Both are off site, but really fun. We are going to do the Pirate Adventure Dinner on a future trip as well. You can get discount tickets for the off-site dinner shows at AAA or ticketmania.com With the discounts, the shows are much less expensive than the WDW shows.
I just returned from our trip last week. sigh! There were 10 of us and we saw both the HDDR and SoA and we enjoyed both of them. The kids in our party were DD2, DS4, DN5, DN5. They all really enjoyed the SoA! We liked the food and thought that the show was very entertaining. (Yes the storyline IS a little lame..) We loved the dancing and the atmosphere. the fire dancing was especially cool!
My DH and I went to the original on our honeymoon in '95 and it was pretty boring except for the end. Food seems to be the same.
The only thing I didn't like was the dessert. It was some sort of chocolate volcano....I think they could probably come up with a better dessert. It was just okay.
I would return to this dinner show in the future. I hope that you will enjoy yourselves!
