 Pre-trip report October 19th four-night cruise/three night land.
:welcome:
Cast:
DW – 34 year old mom
DH – 40 year old :love2:
DS1 – 10 year old
DS2 – 4mo old
DM – DW mother 58.

We have had an eventful and stressful year. We bought and moved into our house in January. It was a foreclosure that had holes in doors, walls, dog infested carpet…. two weeks of cleaning before moving in, yikes. I graduated with my bachelors in May. My fabulous husband had I had our son in June. Over the last year my employer has been harassing me over my marriage to a company employee. In August, when I was to go back to work, they terminated my position for fear of “favoritism.” Forget that no one has ever accused me of favoritism over the last three years? So now I have a claim filed against our employer with the state, as marriage to an employee is a protected class in Colorado. Hope it works out. That is only part of the stress:crazy2: Matched with the economy and now no job….yikes! We have passed all out deadlines to avoid a large loss of money so we are continuing with this vacation. Had it not been so close we likely would have canceled.

WOW!!! We really need this trip, and we are going to have a blast.

DH has mentioned a few times that he would like to go to Disney World and I have wanted to try a cruise. We were limited to a week vacation and limited to the time of year. Dh, and I at the time, have a black out on vacations mid Nov – January. As we had DS2 in June, we wanted him a bit older than just a few weeks. So, here we are going on our first Disney Cruise and our first trip to FL. Grandma, DM, will be joining us at the World after the cruise.

As with many here, I love to plan. Planning vacations seem to be half the fun of a vacation. I have the books, and read the dis. nearly daily. Talk about it daily. My poor family. DH is great and lets me talk and talk. Okay, I’m not as bad as it sounds. I hope not anyway. Needless to say I have modified the itinerary, and then modified it again. As this is a cruise board I will try to keep the land section limited. If anyone has ideas please share. I could use all the help offered from those of you who have been there.

We are also celebrating DH 40th birthday Oct 9th :bday:

So here is where we are at about 1 week out. :dance3:
Tentative itinerary:
Sat – Oct 18 – arrive head to port
Sun – Oct 19 – cruise day 1
Mon – Oct 20 – day at sea
Tues – Oct 21 – Nassau day
Wend – Oct 22 – CC!!!
Thur – Oct 23 – in port go to Bush Gardens
Fri – Oct 24th - Discovery Cove
Sat – Oct 25th – Magic Kingdom
Sun – Oct 26th – head home

Day 1. party:
We are leaving Colorado at 12:55 am with a three hour lay over in TX, then due to arrive in Orlando at 10:15am. (we were to arrive at 8:55 but the airline change it, bummer) Where is the sleep? Sleep, who needs sleep? We are on vacation right! Besides I have kids, sleep is something I hope to get when I retire. :sad2: (after the stock market recently retirement may go the way of sleep- gone gone gone never to be seen):sad1:

We are going to be renting a car and will be heading straight to the port.
At one point I was thinking of hitting the Space center on this day or go to Epcot. We would get to Epcot about 11? Would that work? Humm? However, I think we will not be getting to the port till about 1pm if we just head straight there? So confused :scratchin

We are staying at the Radisson. I was thinking for the rest of the day we could go swimming and maybe take a walk. If there are any ideas on a great place for dinner please let me know. Maybe here I will plan some sleep, at least a few hours.

Day 2
7am - wake up early, get carry on packed, feed baby, load car.
8:45 – head to breakfast.
10:00 – shuttle to post –

At the port YEA!!!! (hope to be anyway. Planes and such will not stop working with this market? Na, we are good right?)

Meeting great dis. board members at 3pm by pool. :cool1: We seem to have a fair amount of kids, boys even, around DS1 age. Hope that makes for a great great vacation for him.

We have Polo planned for 7pm. Not my first or second choice but its what was available especially when you wait to book until early August. I will take the baby to Flounders. Baby should be sleeping at this time. His bedtime is like clockwork; 8ish and he is out. DS1 I hope will take to the clubs, some anyway.:confused3 I intend to get boys and go to the show on this night. Then end the night by ordering a large cookie and mild from room service before bed.

Day 3 at sea
I hope to spend some quality time with the family and DH. :lovestruc I have reservations at Flounders for DS2, over what is typically his naptime. DH and I were going to do the spa where you get the quiet time and a service (massage that is) for each. Now however I have cut out this luxury, given the economy. If anyone has some opinions on this that would be great. My objective is to get in some great family activities, eat dinner together and go to the show.

Day 4 in Nassau
I was hoping to wake up early. I keep saying that :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Keeping in mind I am not one to wake up early. We all are going to get a carriage tour and go to the pirate museum. Get a small souvenir and head back to the ship. I was thinking of paying the fee to get into the private beach at the Hilton? Not sure we are up to it or the cost is worth it?

Day 5 CC
I hope to be ready to go when we are allowed to leave the ship. We are going to go for a bike ride right away having DS2 ride in a carrier. Then we are going to go snorkeling. Dh and I are going to take turns holding DS2 and snorkeling with DS1. I hope to get some souvenirs and eat lunch. Then just kick back and play at the beach, hope to get a real nice drink. :drinking1 We are not much in the way of drinkers but the frilly drinks are a nice treat especially when I could not have a drink over the last 11 months. We may head back to the ship and take a quick nap before dinner and the great show I hear so much about. Naps are good, great even.

Day 6 off ship
We are getting off the ship early and head to Orlando. :wave2: I am picking my mother up at our hotel (she was flying in the night before) and head to bush gardens.

There it is? I am sooo excited. One week to go!!:dance3:

We just got off a 7-night with our 4/mo DD. She had a blast. Loved Flounder's!
I look forward to reading about your trip.:thumbsup2
