Pre-Trip, Disney in August...am I nuts?!? - Trip Report!!

[/FONT]
Cute purchases! And I second the getting Fast passes for TSM right away (or ride it right away and get fastpasses when you get off so you can do it again!).

Thanks!! :cloud9:
And I'm already planning on riding Toy Story first!! It just sounds sooooo cool!
Has anyone used RideMax? I was thinking of buying it, but wanted to make sure! It sounds like it would be perfect for me and my O.C.D. behavior! :rotfl:

So I'm technically takking a break from my paper writting (got 11 1/2 pages done, only 8+ more to go, ugh! :surfweb: ), I figure a little breather was in order. I'm still being productive by planning for our trip, right?! :rolleyes1
Anyway, our 90-day mark is coming and I want to have a good idea what restaurants to book. Of course things are always subject to change, but I think this is a good start!

Sunday - arrive around noon, explore resort, go to Epcot and maybe eat at La Cellier (sp?) (heard some good reviews!)
Monday - Hollywood Studios (if I accidently call it MGM in my frantic typing, please forgive me. Last time I was there it was MGM, so I'm afraid it will always be MGM to), definitely want to dine at Sci-Fi...or maybe 50's Prime Time... Not sure, any suggestions on which is better?! And I'm still contemplating about us viewing Fantasmic. I'm afraid it might be a rrreeaaalllllyyyy long wait, and that might bug J. If we do decide, we might try and book a dinner package at Mamma Melrose's
Tuesday - Magic Kingdom in the morning and possibly evening with Typhoon Lagoon in the afternoon! I know it sounds nuts, but I already bought the tickets to TL and we don't really have a free day. I'm thinking once it starts to get hot/crowded, we can boogie on over to TL (I'm also contemplating doing TL the day we're at Animal Kingdom). The only place I really want to have ADR for this day is O'hana at the Poly. I've heard great things about this place and absolutely LOVE that resort!
Wednesday - Animal Kingdom (with the possibility of TL if it doesn't work out on Tues). I really want to do the character breakfast at Tusker House (which is perfect since J loves Donald!). One character meal might be good enough since it's just the two of us (and J's first time). I'd like to also try and go to Boma that night for dinner. Another potentially cool resort to walk around!!
Thursday - (our last full day, snif, snif) Epcot! I haven't really planned for any major dining this day (since it looks like we'll have plenty going on the rest of the week!), so I was thinking of hitting up all the good CS places at WS! Too many places to list that I want to try. Let's just say I hope we'll be eatin' our way around Epcot!! :hyper:
Friday - before we head out :sad2: I thought we could either plan to resort hop a little (one of my favorite things I did the last time I went) or head over to DTD for some last minute shopping. Our flight will leave around 4 (I think...), so that should give us a little time.

So that's my game plan so far!! If anyone has suggestions on places to eat or anything, I would love to hear it!
Ok, back to the grind of paper writing.... :headache:

Sci-Fi and the Prime Time Cafe are both fun. Either one is a good choice! Sorry, that was no help.

hey! Just found your PTR. I am in the same boat as you- it's my BF's first time at Disney and I want him to love it so we can go back again!!!!

First of all..I LOVE the Mickey Crocs. Mary Jane crocs are my favorite, I am obsessed with pink..where did you order them from! I need them too!!

So far your plans look good. For good places to eat- if you want to see illuminations at Epcot, a great idea is to get ressies around 7:30 at the Rose and Crown pub (or later). You can ask them to hold your food till after illuminations(if your ressie is for like 8:15-8:30), and they will- atleast they did for us! either way, you get to watch illuminations from the deck on the rose & crown..amazing view!!!

Also- Ohana is great to watch Wishes from (on the beach)..I planned this as kind of a romantic thing for my bf and I- dinner at Ohana, then watching Wishes from the beach, then hopefully hopping over to the MK EMH. Can't wait to hear more!

Thanks so much for reading and for the great tips!! I really wanted to eat somewhere special our last night and it looks like Rose & Crown might be it!!
As far as the shoes go (which are soooooo comfortable, by the way!), I got them off the Crocs website! They were even on sale! And when I ordered I got a discount by entering the code: CHOICES009 I hope it'll still work for you! I even ordered J a pair (not the pink, that would be too much!)

Hi Amanda!! Just wanted to say welcome to the boards!

I love your wedding picture. It's gorgeous. YAY for being married on the beach. Awesome.

You guys are going to love the Boardwalk Inn. We were married there last May at SBP. The resort is just beautiful!

Wow it has been 5 years since your last visit? I'm so excited for you!!!!

YAY for your 90 day mark coming! Hope you get everything you want. You should!

Hi Amanda!

Welcome! I love you TR so far and you will love your crocs! I bought there flip flop ones in the airport before we left and it was the best purchase the whole trip. Your dining plans look great! When can you make you ADR's?

Thanks so much!! I am loving the boards (kind of addictive, ya know!)!
Our wedding was so much fun! One of the best parts was being bare foot! :lmao:
It's actually been 15 years since my last visit :scared1: I know, I know, shame on me. I just hope J will get addicted so we can make it an annual (or close to annual) trip! HA!
I think I'll be able to call for my ADR on May 11. Don't you know I'll be the one calling at 6:59am!!

Thanks so much!! It's hard not to want to post every day! But I guess I should leave some part of the excitement for this summer! ;)
I think the day is May 11 (I found some sort of cool calculator thing on the boards...of course I could have just counted!). It's a Monday morning (ugh!) but you know I'm going to call before work! :surfweb:
Have a good one!

Hey Sarah!
We may definitely run into each other! Maybe at the Boardwalk bakery! Yummy!!
And we're for sure gonna do the dining plan! I just don't see why people wouldn't use it. Unless you're not an over-planner like me! And I have a feeling I'll be on the phone most of the morning! Good thing I don't have a class until 9:20am!! :rolleyes1

So it's almost May and then I'll finally be able to view the park hours for August (is it sad that I'm really excited about that?!). Then only a few more days after that will I be able to book our ADRs (hopefully)!!!!
Life has been pretty busy (the story of my life). With me attempting to finish two 20+ page papers (yes, 20 PLUS times two!), helping my cousin with her wedding (cause I'm the matron of honor...geez that sounds so old!), plus my teaching job, I don't have much time for anything else. That is of course Disney stuff! Duh.
I need to down load some pictures of this past weekend. It was my cousin's (the bride) shower and bachelorette (sp?) party in Austin. We had a great time! It was a little tough making the drive down then back home to Dallas the next day...by myself! Poor J has to do the same thing this coming weekend for the bachelor party. :sad2: Hopefully I'll be productive while he's out of town!
I've actually completed one of my gargantuan papers already! It's titled "Under the Radar: the Significance of Passive Resistance in American Slave Societies". Kind of a wordy title, I know. But hey, the paper is twenty pages! Going by the title, it's about resistance to American slavery beyond violent revolts and rebellions. The other one I'm still working on (closing in on a full 14 pages) is entitled "Mordechai Chaim Rumkowski: The Elder of Lodz". This paper was written for a Holocaust studies class (which is instructed by an actual survivor, Zsuzsanna Ozsvath! Love her!!) and is about the second largest ghetto in Poland (just behind Warsaw). I really enjoyed both classes and professors, but I am a little ready to be done with school. Of course I say that now but come next year I'm sure I'll be aching to register, get books, etc. Or maybe not! ;)
My job is somewhat busy these days. I mean, when you teach middle school you gotta be alert! The end of the school year is approaching and we also have our standardized testing coming up (anyone else from Texas is probably familiar with the TAKS, ie. a waste of time! <just my opinion>). So most everyone is walking on eggshells until the end of the year. I'm just hoping I can keep my sanity until then! :scared1:
So that's the latest with me. I'm so excited about mid-May coming! Once I've turned in my papers and my cousin's wedding is here, life should be a little more bearable...although we still have school until June 5...ugh.
Oh! Here's a pic from a school dance! We were the "loser" teachers that were actually out on the dance floor! I'm a little worn-out from doing "Thriller"! The real version!! (we learned it for our wedding! ha!)

So for those of you still reading, I thought I'd post some pics from my cousin's party! And I'm sorry for going on and on and on yesterday about my papers. I looked back at my post and thought "Geez, Amanda. Do you really think people want to hear about school work?! Yuck!"
Anyway, here are some photos!
This is before we went out!

This was another bride! All her party had on these pink wigs!!

Time for a silly pose!

The bride and her bridesmaids!

This would have been a good shot, but some weird guy jumped in! Thanks a lot!!

Great PTR. Your wedding look like it was great. I was wanting us to renew our vows next year on the beach, which will be our 10th anniversary. I am in the process of tring to add photos to my PTR. Are you using photo bucket? I am hoping to use something else.

Thanks!! Our wedding was so much fun! One of the best days of our lives! I highly recommend beach weddings/vow renewals! It's so peaceful and romantic :cloud9:
I've been using photo bucket, not sure if there's another option...but it's not so bad once you figure it out. I definitely spent some time on the tech support boards! :lmao:

Hi Amanda! I just caught up on your PTR! Great job :thumbsup2

My husband and I just got married in December, and we met in Dallas--and would love to move back there someday. So yay for newly-weds and Texas! :woohoo:

I know what you mean about finishing school! I'm finishing my undergrad in August (which I know isn't as tough as a masters...but still...:) ) and it is so tough to work full-time and be in school full-time. But hang in there!! We'll be finished before long! :thumbsup2

Your plans sound so great! I'm in a similar boat--I really want my DH to love Disney (he hasn't been since he was in elementary school) so that he'll want to come back! He thinks I'm a nut for planning so much, but I'm just a planner at heart. And what better to plan than a Disney trip?! ;)

Anyway, I love your PTR so far, and I'm excited to see the rest of your plans unfold!!

Looks like you had such a fun night. Bachelorette parties are always so fun!!!
Oh my gosh it was so much fun!! Just glad no one wanted to hire one of those guy dancers. It may suit some, but it's not really my cup of tea when a guy's  is in my face! (sorry, hope that wasn't inapporpriate!) :goodvibes

Yea!! Welcome! Congrats on the wedding and yea for Texas peps! What part of Dallas? I grew up in Oak Cliff but live in Plano now.
I'm hoping with all the time I spend on here that the trip will be amazing! And hubby won't help but love Disney!! I'm still trying to be a little discrete in how much time I'm on here (I mean, I do have school stuff to do :rolleyes1 ), but hopefully the trip will be great!!
And congrats on finishing up your degree this August! :dance3: It's hard no matter what level! Good luck with yours!! :cheer2:

I am still trying to catch up there is only so much I can read while I am at work :rotfl2: So anyways I love the pictures of you two babies so adorable I have four dogs myself. The pictures of the shirts are cute :lovestruc and I left the best for last. I love the pictures of you and your other half  The waterfall and the wedding pics so amazing. Have fun before you know it August will get here it's just around the corner. :dance3:
