I did my son’s pre registration this morning, so I thought I’d share how it went. My son has Autism so we’ve been using GAC or DAS for over a decade, but this was our first time on the new system. Our trip is 30 days from today so it today was our first opportunity to pre register. I clicked on the link at 7:02 (6:02, my time), and I had connection issue at 6:15 and panicked for a moment, but it came back in about 30 seconds and I was worried that I lost my place in line, but I stayed on. At 6:25 I got a message that I was next in line and asked for the preliminary info of who it was for and who was in my party. At 6:30 I completely lost connection and had to log all the way out and back in again! I was really panicking that time, so I want to put anyone else fears to rest if that happens to them… when I got logged back in and tried to restart the pre registration, it brought me right back to where I was. It was 6:40 when I finally got to chat with CM. It was pretty standard to what I’ve been through in the park. I had to put my son on for a few minutes and she asked him a couple of questions about what he was most looking forward to on the trip and if it was ok to take his pic. I think it was about 10 minutes talking to her all total. Then she transferred me back to the chat to make selections for our 2 rides per day. The forms gave room for 3 days on them, so the CM I was talking to sent me the same form to fill out 3 times. I was a little confused at first. Days 2 through 6 went super smooth. For some reason he thought I made invalid selections for the 7th and sent me the list of available rides based on my park reservation. I made the same 3 selections as I had on the form and he got that updated. At that point everything but my first day selections were showing in my future plans. I asked about it and he said he didn’t have any selections from me for that day. Was on the same form as days 2&3 but he sent me the form again and I just filled it out for that day. I jumped in my car and drove to work and by the time I was there it had all updated in my future plans so I got back in the chat to thank him. All total it took me about an hour and a half start to finish, but 15 minutes of that, I was in my car driving and therefore not connected. And every time I left the chat to check my plans, drive ect, the next time I tried to go back to the chat it always put me right back where I had been with the same CM. I think I got my first and second choice on every day and all of them were between 10 and 3:30 when the lines are the longest so I’m pretty happy. I can’t wait for our trip!

Just so everyone is aware, it is normal to get ‘knocked out of the chat or wait’ about every 30 minutes. A screen comes up with instructions to log back in and when you do, you come back to the same place in chat where you left off.

Post one of this thread has details on DAS registration and how it works in the parks if anyone wants further details.

Glad it worked well for you

Thank you SO much for sharing! We went to DL in 2018 and did not know about DAS so we did not get it. We are headed to WDW in Jan and this will be the first time using it for our son. Thank you!

I didn't get a form when I registered a month ago, is that a new thing?

I don’t know since it’s the first time I’ve done it. I was transferred to a CM in the chat and he just posted this form 3 times in a row. I have a 7 day trip. When I opened it, It had day 1, 2,& 3, date, preference for Morning, Afternoon, or Evening, and then a spot for your top 3 choices. I was confused about the 3 forms until I realized I could only put in 3 days on each form. The subsequent forms were still numbered 1,2,&3. I don’t know what I was expecting exactly, but he didn’t really give me instructions.

It seems that some CMs send one out and others don’t.
I’ve heard of people getting a form several times, some were early on after it started. We have done video registration twice and didn’t get form either time

I feel like I’ve seen a lot of negativity lately towards the pre registration process and people telling others not to bother with it and just sign up in the park and forego the 2 advanced selections in the Disney FB groups I follow which is why I wanted to give a positive experience. It wasn’t without hiccups, but I didn’t spend all day waiting for the chat or get a lot of inconvenient times . I have a couple where my hour overlaps like 10 & 10:30, but also deliberately made some of choices near each other ie Big Thunder and Splash, Slinky Dog and Midway Mania, ect.

I did it last week and got only "walk on" options for our advanced selections (e.g. Small World, Figment, etc). Maybe because our trip was 8 days away?

That would make sense. The headliners are going to go fast, so if you registered 8 days from your trip, a lot wouldn’t have available. For me, this is just going to be one more thing like dining reservations that I make priority the first day it’s available to us.

We will be a party of 8. Three of these will have DAS. I understand that the 3 with DAS can not be on the other peoples DAS. So can the other 5 be on the preselected rides of all 3 that have DAS? When we preregister will all three of us do it together! It’s me, have used DAS, daughter, just had hip surgery, so depends on how she is doing, and grandson with Autism. I hope this makes sense to everyone.

Each individual (DAS-holder or guest) can only have one set of preselected (Advanced DAS) rides. If you do 1 video chat for all 3 DAS-holders, most likely they will make you select one set Advanced Selections for the whole party. I believe that's what I've read others had to do.
