I need help with this. I wish I could afford to offer the flora package that comes with 3 choices for $28 pp, but I don't think there is any way we can get our dinner and bar menu's cheap enough to do this. I can't really take anything off the dinner menu we have because it is going to be stations, and it just wouldn't work out well. My first question is, Is it possible to only choose two options rather than three for a cheaper price? If so anyone know around what this would cost. The choices sound really good and I think two would be plenty, but I'm not sure if you can do this. If not, it looks like our only other option, affordable option, is to just do a cheese and cracker display. I won't be too thrilled if we have to do this, but it might end up that way. There are three different cheese and cracker options (which by the way all seem really high priced to me!) Does anyone have any suggestions on which one is the best? Do you think having only a cheese and cracker display is enough. Everything in the area I live in is soooo much cheaper, it all just seems to expensive for so very little.

We are in the same boat and have decided to do veggies and dip and fruit and dip for our pre-reception....we figured by the time people get there they will really only have like an hour before they eat again so I wouldn't want to get anything heavy that they wouldn't eat. The cost came up to about 24 dollars a person including the sales and service taxes.

If you go to Magical Kingdoms.com and click on Weddings at the top then Disney World then Wishes collection then Reception Menus then Pre-reception and cocktail hour and look at the culinary displays the prices are listed there. (Sorry I couldn't post the link for some reason :(

Also what kind of stations are you having at your reception? We are still trying to decide what we want!

Every menu is customizable. If you only want 2 items on the prereception menu, ask them to tell you what it would cost if you removed X. Also, I agree with the previous poster—your guests are only going to be waiting about an hour til dinner, so they're only going to need something to take the edge off. You don't want them spoiling their dinners!

We also couldn't do the Flora Package but decided to do the Int'l & Domestic Cheese Display w/ Flat Breads and Dried Fruits which is $9.75++ a guest...when we had our menu tasting the small cheese display they had arranged for us was more then enough to fill us and they were delicious....there was so many varieties, plus when the chef showed us the huge display they actually do on the day of the wedding we knew it would be more the enough...we also tried the the Bacon-crusted Beef & Blue Cheese appetizer and it was amazing, you can definitely serve one appetizer and a display. The cost for the appetizer was $12.50++ a guest.

What was the Int'l & Domestic Cheese Display w/ Flat Breads and Dried Fruits like? Dried fruit does not sound too appetizing to me. Was it good? This might be what we end up doing, although I would love to be able to do something like the bacon crusted beef and blue cheese app. That is the one I deff. want to try at our P.S., but $12.50 a person is a lot for just one app.

Glad to hear this is a possibility, I will deff. inquire on how much it would cost, and good point about not spoiling guests dinners. Thanks!

Thanks! I have the menus already, but I'm just not sure what to get that will be the most bang for our buck. As far as the stations go, we are looking at doing the "The Glass Slipper" Event Dinner Buffet, and customizing it slightly. It has a seafood station, salad bar, action station (meat and potatoes) and a dessert station with fondue. I really like the idea of stations because I think they are a little more exciting and look nicer than a typical buffet.

The cheese display was sooo good...we all loved it especially the port wine cheese (my favorite). The dried fruits is like a jelly spread which my mother and mother-in-law absolutely loved. With the small display they had, we had to stop ourselves because we were already getting stuffed. If you choose just the display, your guests will be more then happy and like the other DISer said, you don't want your guests getting too full before a buffet.

When we did our PS we requested to try the cheese display and the bacon-crusted beef and blue cheese appetizer, which was also extremely delicious. When we saw the price for just the appetizer we removed it and we are just doing the cheese display. Don't go over board because a lot of the food will not be eaten and you can't take a doggy bag, lol.

puente0629, thank you so much! I am so glad to hear that it was good. I was really stressing out about this, and now I think we will just go with that. I have to stick to the $125 pp and we deff. want an open bar, so it's tough, but if we do the cheese display I think we will be ok. Thanks again!

I was told that it was an option to have 2 items, but that it wouldn't be packaged priced, that I would be paying "per item". I wanted the quesadilla, which was 12.50+pp and the lolli-chop, which was also 12.50+pp and it ended up to be ~$3 less than having 3 items! We're still trying to decide what to do, as we have to stick to the $125pp minimum. Right now we have chosen the antipasto display but that may change after our PS in 20 days! :)

With the open bar, you should only have to spend like $100 per person on food. Are you having a dessert party? We're taking off the dessert station and only serving cake because we're opting for the dessert party. That goes toward the $125 per person.

Also, we're removing the Seafood station, because we're not big fish eaters, and my MOH is allergic to shell fish. I don't know how much that's chopping off, but I hope it will be close to $15-$20 per person.

Instead of getting rid of a station, see about substituting something. I read a post on the boards somewhere titled "Can you have a reception for $85 per person" and in it, the board members explained how they customized their menus. Try searching for it. If you can't find it, PM me, and I'll try to figure out how to send you the link.

I had my reception (even though it was lunch, we had dinner foods because it was later in the afternoon) for $65/person for the lunch and $11/person for pre-reception. It's definitely possible to do it cheaper than $85/person for dinner.

We had a fajita bar for our pre-reception. For lunch we had a beef strip loin carving station, pasta action station with two pastas and sauces, soup & salad, bread, parmesean crusted chicken, and mashed potatoes with prociutto, cheddar, & sour cream. It was an amazing meal. And our price also included Mickey premium bars to serve with dessert.

Thanks for sharing this review! I just cancelled our Flora Package and went with the cheese display instead. This is a great savings for us :)
