Pre-Paid Gift Cards?

We are staying at the Swan on our upcoming trip. I know we will miss being able to charge to our room while in the parks. I read somewhere about a new Disney gift card. I thought that I could put a certain dollar amount on the card and then use it throughout the parks to pay for merchandise and food. Has anyone done this? Where can I purchase the gift card? Can I buy it with my Visa card or does this make it like a cash advance? Any info. on this would be appreciated. Tx.

Hi! I believe you can buy them at DTD. I ordered one from WDW Merchandising to give to my DD as a birthday present.(We go to WDW 3 days after her b-day). There is a $6.95 S/H charge, though. (grrrr!) From what I've read on AllEars, they can be used at restaurants and gift shops...not sure about food carts in the parks. Hope this helps a little! Kathy

I don't want to order it in advance and pay $6.95 handling fee. Can I buy one either at a resort or in the parks? I don't think I"ll have time to go to DTD.
