Pre-ordering at BOG question (subbing soup for drink)

I plan to pre-order for BOG lunch and I plan to sub my drink for the French Onion soup. Is it best to pre-order the soup and then explain when checking out that I want to sub it for the drink OR pre-order a drink and then change it once there? I've heard they check for any changes before/when you check out, right?

I do plan to pre-order. I was asking of I should pre-order the soup and then let them know at checkout that I'm subbing the drink. Or order the drink, then change to the soup at checkout.
Pre-order what you want. You don't need to worry about the swap-in. The system handles it fairly smoothly.

Sorry to hijack OP, but I was also wondering about whether you can tell them to modify things if you have pre-ordered? DD would like the donut-thing, but does not like caramel sauce (and, yes, I did just read the picky-eater thread. If a kid wants to make a calorie-laden meal a little less sugary, that is okay with me) Of course, for me, I love banana caramel sauce and think it should be a staple for ALL breakfast items, lol.

I know that for some items you can make modifications when you are pre-ordering. Have you "practiced" pre-ordering to see if that a modification available?

I kinda looked at it last night for a few minutes. I didn't really see any way to make modifications, but I may need to go further in the process or try selecting a different item. I'll look at it some more this evening when I get home. It would sure be nice to be able to do that. Otherwise it may be that I'm the ONLY one who orders an adult meal---and the other three in my family order kids' meals and a cupcake, lol, since the kids' meals probably would be too small from what I've read.

I know with lunch, if I click on the item I want to order it brought up a different screen with more description and ways to modify. But I have also heard they check for any changes when you when you arrive.

Can you order the croque monsieur without ham? my hubby is veggie but would like the sandwich

We preordered and then when we checked in they took us to a register and she commented my daughter (adult I dining plan) ordered a kids meal. She didn't want any adult entrees. Anyway she called into the kitchen and modified her order to adult sized (she said sometimes they can do that and sometimes not depending who is working thy day - a manager I guess). She adjusted several things in our order at that time. Based on this I would guess you could fine tune your order too
