I went in to the Photopass pre-order link last night and it was not available any longer. Another Diser called and it seems that you will need a pin code mailed to you before you leave for your trip to get the deal. The TA told her she will receive the pin code when she gets her final documents two weeks out. But what about DVC members, does that mean we won't get one? I am really getting annoyed with all the perks that paying guests have received recently. It's not like I didn't pay a bunch of money upfront that they took and invested. My vacation is not "free" and I should be entitled to this specific perk as well. Anyone else feel the same way or am I just over-reacting again.

Why would anyone feel "entitled" to a discount perk?

I have no clue whether DVC will receive a pin code or not...perhaps they are restricting it to specific room packages? If the discount code is given to those that book discounted room only reservations, like AP holders, then I agree that DVC should probably receive the code. If those booking a full package vacation receive the code as part of the package, then no, I don't think we will, or even necessarily should receive the code.

I received an e-mail regarding the photopass special. I didn't realize I had to access it through the link. I tried to order the cd by just going to the website. Now I know why it was "gone". Darn it!!

Oh, and I'm a DVC member.

Up until last night the perk was available to everyone and shame on me for not acting quickly enough. Now it "seems" it will only be available to those guests paying cash. I paid cash too it was just a few years back and I feel like I am not being treated fairly in this instance.

Trying to make sure I understand.....any guest staying on WDW property for cash, be it Value, Mod, or Deluxe, discounted package or full price room, will be able to pre-purchase the photopass CD for the $99 rate? But people staying DVC can't?

I don't quite understand who is getting the pins either, but, if this is the case* and it's only being offered to those paying for a resort "hotel" stay (not on points), and if the 10% discount is so important to a DVC member, there's a simple solution: Get the best of both worlds: Book the first night of the stay at a value (hopefully it's a Fri or sat & you can save a ton of points) have a night of silly, huge, iconic fun and then move over to your DVC room all while having the pre-ordered discount.

And with only 1 night, nearly everything should still be packed making it easy to have bell services move your luggage over for you.

* again, we're not sure who is being offered the pin codes, and I might add, not everyone is up for the challenge of moving resorts. Fully understood.

Do you know that anyone paying cash gets the PIN? Including discounted room only (non-package) reservations, like AP discounted, or FL resident rooms?

Or, is the PIN only being distributed to those booking a package?

DVC is generally treated like the AP discounted room folks. Because DVC rooms are discounted and room only. It is just that they are discounted as well as pre-paid until the end of the contract.

This is right of the photo pass web site:
The Pre-Arrival Savings Offer Promotion is made available only to Guests with an upcoming stay at the Walt Disney World Resort who also have granted Disney Destinations permission to send promotional email. Eligible Guests will be sent an email from Disney Destinations approximately 45 days prior to their stay (though the timing can vary). The email contains planning information about the trip as well including a link to the offer page for the Disney's PhotoPass Pre-Arrival Savings offer. The offer is only valid for the recipient of the email and is not transferable. The offer is only available for purchase prior to the recipient's vacation.

So reading this I think we can assume that DVC members will also get sent a "link" to the pre arrival savings offer? I certainly hope so! :scared1:

Looks like the photopass website is not working today. Keep getting bad host name. :confused3

according to the link on the main Disney web site, the Photopass page is currently unavailable as it is being enhanced. I guess we'll see what the enhancement is.

I had just thought that we'd probably be seeing the special link or code or wahtever for sell on ebay, but looks like that won't happen. Keeping this non-transferable should be an easy enough thing to control.

I, too, will be interested to see how this turns out.

I've just sent the following to DVC through the member web site. I'm not sure if it will do any good, but it can't hurt to ask. Please join me if you'd also like to see this perk for DVC.

Guests booking a WDW vacation package through Disney Destinations are eligable to receive a discount for pre-purchasing a PhotoPass CD, or PhotoPass CD + PhotoBook.

Please explore the possibility of adding this as a DVC perk!

I called DVC member services to ask and was referred to Photopass to ask. It was too late in the day to call Photopass. My question is "I am signed up with Disney Destinations, but have booked a trip through my DVC points. If I buy tickets through Disney, or is the systems linked since I am staying at a Disney Resort, can I get the discount". Also considering I have used Photopass many timers in the past, hoping this is possible.

If not, oh well. It is worth a try, but nothing I will lose sleep over.

What a joke the PP people are. I sent a note last night ...I can't cut and paste it all here because I'm on a different computer, but their response just came to my phone.

In a nutshell, I asked "will there ever be an opportunity for DVC members staying on points to receive any discounts on the Photopass?".

Here's another oh-so-helpful Disney response:
Thank you for your recent visit to DisneyPhotoPass.com. Promotional offers are occasionally made available through select marketing programs. DisneyPhotopass.com does not have a promotion available on the website at this time.

Sincerely,
Michelle

Well, this is Disney. I'd about die of shock if you actually got a written answer that said "Yep, we certainly might give you a break on the price..."

We had planned on pre-purchasing the CD for our November trip. At this point, we have a decision to make. I'm tempted to skip the photopass thing altogether and not buy any pictures or the CD. My pictures are generally better than the Photopass pictures, but then I'm not in them.

As Chuck has pointed out, Disney is not required to provide this perk; likewise, I'm not required to purchase any photopass products. We have a 10 day trip including 3 nights at Pop and 6 nights at SSR. I'm beginning to think I should just bypass the photos and just enjoy the world. Haven't decided yet . . .

Each trip, we tell ourselves that "this time, we won't get the CD." Each trip, we do anyway, because there are always at least a half-dozen shots we just have to have. At that point, we're into nearly $100 just to download the ones we really want, and "for just $50 more" we can get them all.

One clever Rat, that's for sure.

Just went to the member site and asked that they consider the perk for DVC as well:thumbsup2. Thanks.
