One goes out the rest stays lit my foot! I have been fussing with this thing since I took it out of the box 2 hours ago! It was lit when I packed it up last year and now .... nothing!

I am going to pour myself a drink and evaluate the situation... :drinking1:drinking:

Ours died within a couple of years as well.

We got a real tree last year to fix that and this year we bought another artificial tree...without the lights!

I didn't realize pre-lit trees were to be disposable and adding another strand of lights to them to compensate for the dead lights looks dorky.

We got a decent inexpensive light-less tree. Half off a couple of weeks ago during a special pre-black friday sale they had.:wizard:

YES!!!!!! I have 2 lovely nonlit areas of my prelit tree. I weaved in a string of lights but there are so many already prelit strings I am afraid it will blow! Grrrrr how long do I keep the thing?

I get a live tree each year. Picked on up yesterday and my wife decorated it today. I throw away the lights each year and buy new one's each year, got tired of putting them away and then them not working the next year.

I"m with you. I hate the pre-lit trees. Sure, putting on lights is a minor pain in the butt, but at least we can change them out if they won't light. We bought our white artificial tree about 5 years ago and it looks as good now as it did the day we bought it. This year we had to buy $11 worth of colored lights with white cords (not so easy to find.) But it's so pretty when it's set up--like the Barbie's Adventure At Big Rock Candy Mountain.

Our pre-lit tree had 2 huge sections out this year. We bought one of those $20 light fixer things (@ Target by all the Christmas lights) in hopes it would perform a miracle, and guess what! It did!! All but one small area re-lit and so we just threw a string on and we are good to go. Best $20 we've spent all year!:thumbsup2

OK, so my pre-lit tree is still in the box. But...it cost me less than $100 about 9 years ago. So, I figure that at $12.50 a year, even if it doesn't light this year, I got my monies worth out of it. No way would I be able to buy a real 7ft tree for $12.50.

So, if when I bring it out of the basement tomorrow afternoon, it doesn't co-operate and light up, I'll be heading to the store and buying another pre-lit tree and hope it lasts another 9 years!

This is my 4th year to use my prelit tree from Walmart. I took it out of the box Wed, put the 3 sections together, plugged the top and bottom into the middle section, plugged one plug into the wall, and it all lit up. No problems at all.

No real trees here-allergies are too bad!

You know, I almost forgot - I have one of those around here - I will have to dig it out and see if it works. It's one of those gun looking ones that beep...
Wonder what I did with it?? LOL

We are on our second pre-lit tree in about 5 years. The one we have now is 2 seasons old...and already a couple of sections will not light. :headache: I HATE the pre-lit ones!!

I haven't put it up yet this year, but I'm hoping that none of the other lights are out. I put the section that didn't light up towards the wall, and praying I can set it up like that again this year. :thumbsup2

Everything but the top part is lit. Can't get that part to work...

I am going to bed and tackling it tomorrow.

I never thought those kind of trees would be a good thing to have.

Sounds good in theory, but too easy to have problems with.

Toss it out and go buy a new tree and several strings of lights. Much easier to replace a string of lights for $3 than it is to replace a pre-lit tree every couple of years when it doesn't work right anymore.

MIGrandma's post got me thinking....

I don't know how other pre-lit trees are designed, but mine just looks like a tree w/ strings of lights on it. So...if one string doesn't light up, it would be no big deal to just unstring that section and restring it.

I thought I was the only one with the intense hatred of their "pre-lit-unlit tree". My bottom half and top half don't light so I have put more lights on it.

And how the heck do you people store these things?? Mine comes apart in three sections- and they're huge.

Same here. :thumbsup2

Well, I put a string of lights on mine last year. Wonder what I'll find THIS year!:rotfl2:

I just finally broke down and bought my first pre-lit tree because I hate dealing with the lights. Well I'm glad I had the sense to try it out before Thanksgiving because 1 small section on the bottom didn't light. I ended up taking it back and exchanging it for the same exact tree.

I love how it looks and it is very bright! I paid $80 for it (orig. price $160) so I figure if I only get 4-5 years out of it I'm still ahead of the game. Only time will tell.

When I was in the market for an artificial tree a couple years ago I was looking at prelit trees but the general consensus here was exactly what you are finding, if part of the tree goes out, they were worthless. We got a non-prelit tree.
