I have purchased disney travel insurance for October 2018. I'm going through treatments for lymphoma. I was told the insurance would cover pre-existing conditions. If this is not correct, how can I find good travel insurance. I expect to be cured and this will be my victory cruise.

Is this the coverage that you purchased?

If so, then your coverage is governed by this portion:
Waiver of the Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion The Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion is waived provided you meet the following requirements: 1. the payment for this plan is received at or before the final Covered Trip deposit/payment for your Covered Trip; 2. you are not disabled from travel at the time you make your plan payment; 3. you insure all prepaid Covered Trip costs that are subject to cancellation penalties or restrictions and also insure the cost of any subsequent arrangements added to your Covered Trip within 24 hours of the payment for those arrangements.
If you have any question about your satisfaction of any of those three conditions, you should ask for clarification.

It isn't unusual for insurance offered by vacation destinations and cruise lines to offer pretty decent waivers for pre-existing conditions. However, it is also not unusual for that kind of insurance to be rather inadequate with regard to the actual coverage it offers. Comparing it to the Nationwide insurance policy I have for our upcoming trip, most of the benefits come in a bit lower than the coverage I have with Nationwide. Having said that, coming in only a bit lower isn't bad - some policies offered by vacation destinations and cruise lines come in a lot lower, yet still cost as much.

I encourage you to check into private insurance if you are still within the 14 day review period. You can do so online. Compare both prices and what coverage you get.

I believe the insurance offered through DCL is by Arch Insurance Solutions. It does not cover preexisting conditions; however, if the insurance company denies your claim, DCL will offer you a credit of 75% to put toward another cruise within 1 year.

It also will only cover the portions of your trip that you booked through DCL, so if you book airfare on your own it would not be covered.

You can usually get better coverage for less money if you purchase insurance on your own. Take a look at squaremouth or insure my trip to compare policies.

Best wishes with your treatments, hope you have a fabulous cruise!
