I have avoided it for so long..but some morning are a time cruch for breakfast.

yeah or nay?

I was in Wal-Mart walking through the Valentine's Day gift aisle. The entire aisle is filled with candy, chocolate, champagne, sparkling juice, stuffed animals, etc. Right in the middle of the aisle is one section of pre-cooked bacon.

So is that what I am getting? Thanks :thumbsup2

I use it on occasion, but it's nowhere near as good as the real stuff. OTOH, it probably isn't any worse for you than the real stuff.

It's probably okay in a sandwich or crumbled in a recipe. I don't think I'd eat it alone.

The only one we've found that we like is Oscar Meyer, but it's really tasty!

It's good if you heat it in the microwave to crisp it up. The slices are too thin, though.

Over the weekend we were at Wal-Mart and I saw new thick cut pre-cooked bacon. Haven't tried it so I'm not sure how much thicker it may be.

Pre-cooked packaged bacon, to quote the men in my family, is NASTY. What does work, though, is to partially cook regular bacon until it is nearly done and then heat it up and finish cooking it quicky when you need it. It keeps just fine in tupperware with paper towel or waxed paper between the layers.

Cook up extra when you make some and put it in the freezer. It only takes a few seconds in the microwave to unthaw and so much better.

I do this! I cook (bake, it is much less mess) 2 packages of bacon at a time. Some til crisp for immediate consumption, the rest I layer between sheets of wax paper and put in a zip lock bag into the freezer. Whenever I need a couple of slices in the a.m., I just put them between two paper towels and zap them until crisp, about a minute. It works perfectly, and a lot cheaper than the precooked stuff.

I'm curious. Those who say the precooked stuff tastes bad, are you putting it in the micro to reheat and make crisp? I never thought it tasted bad, just too expensive.

I like the Oscar Mayer bacon. My DH likes the thick cut Oscar Mayer. It was recommended to me by my mom, who is really picky about bacon. She doesn't like most pre-cooked bacon. So for her to recommend this, means that it must be half-way decent.

I like the Oscar Meyer pre-cooked bacon. It's not as good as the real stuff but it's good enough to eat and much less mess than cooking bacon. We don't eat a lot of bacon so it works out great for us to throw on hamburgers or topping for potato soup.

I'm a bacon fanatic and have had it many times and it feeds my craving just fine. It's not as good as the real stuff fresh from the frying pan but it works great in recipes, salads, and for a quick breakfast.

I like it. But then again I really love bacon. In fact, I had some yummy pancakes at CoCos the other day that came with bacon in them. Mmmmm!

I'm a fan of pre-cooked bacon. I'm not a morning person & frying real bacon in the AM would be a disaster!
