Just read about it on the trip board...

Does anyone know what the pre-buying package discounts are (and what they cost)? The impression I got was that it was for the candid photos only. Anyone have some info?!

Thanks again!

Al

i don't know what you mean by candid....
our package included all the pictures that were taking of us on the ship (and on CC)....
we didn't do a pre-package as we didn't know how many pictures we would want to keep....
so on the last day we searched through all the pictures that were posted on display at shutters (we were on the 3 day cruise....on a longer cruise we would have looked earlier)...
as it happened, they had taken exactly 10 pictures of us, so we got the 10 picture package discount...

How much is the 10 picture package discount? Are these just 8x10s or can you get 5x7s also? Thx.

as i mentioned, we didn't sign up for any package in advance..
i had no idea if we would want any of the pictures...
but we did pose at any opportunity that the photographers were taking pictures (and there was no line....ie we didn't stand in line for a mickey picture)...
at the end, it turned out that there were 10 pictures of us (either the kids alone or the whole family).....
the 10 pictures were $84.95 i think.....not cheap, but they're really beautiful pictures (and there are several with the ship in all her glory in the background...)....
we're very very happy we bought them....
as for size, i'm not sure the size.....big ones...maybe they're 8 by 10 but i don't know....they're all developed when you go to look at them...
if you don't want one they just throw it out....

The Shutters package includes only the smaller pictures (5x7 or 6x9??), not the 8x10. It is something like 10 for $85, 15 for more (maybe $115??), versus about $10 or $11 each individually. If you have several young kinds, pre-buying the package might be worth it. We pre-bought and did not have 10 pictures we liked. Plus, the 8x10s are not included. I think we paid $20 each for them. The photographer took few pictures of any teens. We didn't hang around the characters or the kiddie pool so maybe that's where they were.

From what I understand disneyholic to say is we don't have to pre-buy the package? If we do end up buying 10 pics they will charge the package price? Last time we bought 6 pictures -there weren't really many more of us than that AND we have 4 kids - only 2 old enough for the clubs - we were at the Mickey pool all day, every sea day and every possible moment at the family beach on CC and almost all the autograph stations. I was VERY surprised there weren't any pictures of us on CC! MAYBE if I pre-buy the package they will make it a point to take more pictures??? How in the world would they remember who bought ahead of time and who didn't???? Now we LOVE the pics we bought and I plan on buying pics again this Oct. but don't want to buy the package and then not have enough pictures to be able to pick and choose. any thoughts?

Budgeting $85 for 10 photos isnt really that bad.
I had read on a post that someone spent $200 for photos so I have that in our budget that I will know change. More money for drinks-lol

and the pictures were very nice or i wouldn't have bought them...
but i definitely wouldn't pre-buy as there's no guarantee you'll like any of them...

Do they still weed through the photos left from the beginning of the week and discard them as the week goes on to make room for new ones?? I remember reading where families would search for their photos throughout the week and bunch all of theirs together so they could decide on the best and buy what they want after they see all the options. Didn't know if I'd have to be on the ball enough to check everynight... you know "you snooze, you lose!"

Oh, also, do they do reprints? Enlargements?

Thanks!

P.S. Disney probably makes more money doing it that way... just think of all the wasted paper (not to mention time printing all those photos!!)

They do weed through the pictures (and move them around). We spent a few minutes each evening before dinner finding pictures of us and sort of "stacking" them in one spot behind the most recent picture. The more or less left them alone, but did move them once.

I think a great idea would be to start a "file" for anyone who wanted to put in their pictures and then at the end of the week you can go through and select the ones you want. On the last night Shutters was TOO CROWDED AND HOT. I stepped just outside the door to go through our pictures and a Shutters person very quickly told me I could not leave the room (even though there were others out there, too). I commented on the heat and the crowd and she was not deterred. Nice, but firm.

would be one of those three or four drawer file cabinets with manilla file folders labeled with all the stateroom numbers! (But only file the photos that people specifically wanted set aside...) Of course, it would be a pain in the neck for photos left behind. Imagine going through all the files to chuck the photos....
