dont know if ive done the right thing by pre booking our seats on the plane at a cost of £69 the wife was panicing in case the 4 of us were split up so ive done it anyway but i still get the feeling of a rip off :confused3 does anyone else pre book seats?

who are you flying with? we have pre-booked seats before but airline offered this as part of ticket pirce. I doubt the airline would seperate kids from parents on a long haul flight.

With Virgin we prebook and then do Online Checkin all free, arrive 90 mins before departure no problem.
If travelling with an airline that charges have never paid, just got to airport about 3 hours before departure, always got sat together.
Only got split up once, Xmas 06, Virgin Online checking wasn't working, arrived 2 hours before. Our seats had been given to family with small children which takes priority over a family with a 12 years old which is only right, if I had small family I would want to be together.

hi we are going with tcd flyin with xl airlines i would have risked not pre booking myself but id have never heard the end of it if we had been split up may be worth £69 for a quiet life.;)

They wont separate the child ( at least I've never heard of it) but I know adults who have had to sit separate from the rest of the group.

If you check in early enough you'll have no problems, leaving it to the last moment for whatever reason can cause problems.

Yeah we do, I feel the same though!

I always prebook when we have the chance. I'm a nervous flyer and it puts my mind at ease when i know me and dh will definitely be sat together.

I don't as when you read the small print it usually says that airlines class sitting together as "sitting behind or infront of each in seperate rows or being divided by an aisle".

Always pay for pre booked seats like that feeling of peace of mind !!Would hate to be seperated on a 9 hr flight, sad I know but thats just the way us females work:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Knowing my luck I would be left with kids & DH would be relaxing somewhere on his own, enjoying the peace.

1st time we went to fl we booked with fc didnt have the option to pre book seats together and due to amajor accident on motorway we didnt get to airport as early as we had planned, there were 5 of us me dh dd(16) dd(11) and dd(4)and we ended up all over the plane I was sat with dd4 dh was sat in exit seats with dd16miles away and dd11 was sat 6 rows behind me with a total stranger, since then we have flown with tcd and always pay for sitting together but we combine it with the double baggage, at £99 for family i think this gives great value and i dont have to worry about what i buy

vicki

Do TCD still do double baggage as would love this option !We fly with them in September.

Never prebooked seats and have always been sat together or one across the aisle.

For the holiday we booked we purchased Premiun economy with Thomson (Or whatever they call it).

I rang at the weekend to see if i could none the seats we were in but they said that you have to pay extra for that. I was shocked as i thought that the extra £195 would have covered that.

They wanted an extra £5 per person per flight. ( £60 )

As i asked them what seats were left in our section and the reply was "oh not much"

So i thought whats another £60 on a £8k holiday so i booked it. (would have booked it at the time if travel agent had said it was not included)

So managed to get

2 lots 2 with a window and 2 just over the alise.

When i told rest of the party they were very happy as my son is 2 and others in party are nervous flyers.
