Pre-Boarding Question

I am wondering what the rule is for disability preboarding. I am in a removable walking leg cast/boot for an ankle and foot injury. I am awaiting the surgery to correct it. Since standing causes me a lot of pain do you think I would qualify for pre-boarding? How do I go about arranging this? Do you call ahead or let them know when you check in? Thanks!

I believe the rule is they cannot question if you are disabled when you request it. If you say you are, then they will preboard you.

Every airline should allow you to preboard, but the order does differ. On United it is often Global Services, then 1k, then Premier Exec and 'all others requiring extra time to board'. (United is one airline which does not preboard families with children)

As Debbie says, they really can't deny you preboarding especially with such a visible injury. Hope you feel better!

Call the airline you are flying with and talk to an agent. I have had knee replacement and I alert the airline and they put down that I might need assistance. That has allowed me pre boarding on all of our recent flights.
