If you have a thought or a prayer, please say one for my Aunt Irene, She was actually my late, first husband's aunt. He was like a son to her and she has missed him so dearly since he passed.

She was taken to the hospital today by ambulance. She is 84 and suffering with a severe case of spinal stenosis. I know she is heavily medicated tonite, and I am tormented because I am a thousand miles away from her here in Chicago.

Any prayers would be most welcome. I am praying fervently that she will have some relief and be well enough to recover and return home soon.

Oh Carol... so hard to be so far away when loved ones take ill.. absolutely will keep her in my good thoughts... Hugs.

I will keep Aunt Irene in my thoughts and prayers. May God watch over her and her caregivers.

Thank you all so much - my brother in law was able to go visit her today and they were planning to send her off to "rehab" what is better known as a nursing home. He said, wait, you have not even read her cat scan yet? Why would you send her out without a diagnosis? So they agreed to keep her there till they have a doctor read the scan - they said they are short handed..sigh. But they made her select a home anyway. Her mind is sharp as can be,, just her body is failing her. She is very depressed at this turn of events as she has been very independent in her own home. I have called her best friend twice, and will place a call to her tomorrow in the hospital as she seems well enough to use the phone at least now.

Thank you again everyone...

That is sad that they just wanted to put her in a nursing home without figuring out the problem!!!

Yes, I agree with you on that. I think the visit from BIL did some good as they arranged a series of tests today for her including another cat scan. So we shall see what this brings. She is holding up well, but is quite sad being in the hospital today. Christmas Eve was always a big Polish traditional celebration for us, and it also is my oldest DD's birthday. So...we called Aunt Irene twice today and at least she is resting and under good care in the hospital. I just want to push for them to treat and diagnose her and not write her off because of her age. She still has many good years left, IMHO.

I feel bad for her. I know what it is like to be in the hospital for Christmas. They send home everyone but the sickest.

One year I was in the hospital for Christmas. I warned everyone I was going to be in a bad mood that day. My sister had the nerve to call and complain the rolls weren't done right for dinner. My kids were scared because of my condition.

I truly feel so bad for anyone in a hospital this time of year.
