I'm asking for P & PD because my father had a light-to-moderate stroke late yesterday afternoon/early last night. Over the past 2 years or so, he has been having TIAs and possible light strokes, but this one was definitely the worst one he's had so far. We got him to the hospital last evening and he was admitted for most likely a few days (depending on how extensive any damage is and how soon it will be until he can walk well enough for them to release him.) My mom has already gone back over to the hospital this morning, hoping to catch the doctor before morning rounds (Dad had a CT scan last night, but Mom didn't know what the results were yet.) My folks are both in their 70s, and my mother is far and away the healthier of the two, but please put in a few prayers for both of them, Mom included. I have great faith in the power of prayer, and especially the power from this great bunch of folks here on this board! :grouphug:

Thanks to all of you! :goodvibes

Some good news; Mom came home tonight from being at the hospital all day and says that Dad is doing quite a bit better. Most likely, what happened was he did have either a fairly strong TIA or a very light stroke. No paralysis, but he was having quite a bit of difficulty trying to get his legs to work earlier in the day today (add to that the fact that he has 2 knee replacements plus a compressed and curved spine - he really doesn't walk very well to start with!) However, Mom says that by the time she left the hospital tonight, he was able to get up and get about somewhat. (We're more concerned with the nursing staff tonight, in fact! He's not always the best patient at times!)

The doctors also think that in addition to the TIA/stroke, he may have a bit of a virus (he did have a bit of a fever today - not alarming but over 100) so he's also on an antibiotic. The docs want him to stay in the hospital for a bit - probably until Wednesday unless he really makes headway tomorrow. All things considered, we're all pretty pleased with the progress he's making... so all the prayers and pixie dust have been helping out! Thanks again!

Prayers for your dad. My parents are also in their 70's, I'm the youngest of 3 kids, and it is hard to watch them get old and have these problems. Praying for you and your mom and the rest of the family as well.
