Do any of you receive these? My friend Pat, who I love dearly, sends me these prayer emails all the time. They always end with "please send this back to me" or "pass this along to 7 people you love", etc.

I know she is sending these emails to me out of sheer thoughtfulness, but I always feel guilty after deleting them, OR I feel guilty for passing them along because I know some people find them annoying.

Do you delete them or do you pass them along?

My friends and I ususally pass them along. We enjoy reading them. If it's just stupid or not worth passing, I delete it. I don't feel guilty. :)

I never pass them along. I may enjoy reading them now and then but usually I delete them. I hate spam and this stuff can sometimes be very borderline.

I someone types me a personal email asking for prayers then I take it seriously. I liken this to getting a form letter from a friend.

My SIL sends them all the time to a huge group of people. Then as soon as my MIL gets it from her she sends it too me too. I know you can just hit delete but I still find them annoying.

I delete the majority of them. If it is from someone who isn't a regular sender, I might open it because if they don't usually just forward things and took the time to send this one it might be really funny.

I usually delete them. I find most of them very annoying.

For the most part, I delete them. As a previous posted noted, if someone sends a personal e-mail asking for prayers, I respond.

Man - I hate those things.

My g/f would send them to me, and being superstitious - I'd get ticked at her for sending them to me in the first place.

So I told her to put in big ol' letters in the subject - CHAIN LETTER - so it's my choice to be cursed for a 1000 years, or not.

She always does it now. :thumbsup2

I delete them, without reading them, and I go even further and ask the sender to please stop sending them, especially forwarded junk that has been forwarded a hundred times to everyone and their brother! HATE them with a passion!!

Most of the time I delete them. I have said to friends on more than one occasion that I don't have time to deal with stuff like that so they know that I just delete them. It is still simpler for them to send to group emails that include me so I don't get angry at them for sending them.

I typically delete without reading. Of course, if it's a personal request for prayers, I open, read, and then possibly pass on, depending on the situation.

As for urban legend stuff, I usually run it through snopes or some other urban legend site. If I find it to be completely false, I inform the sender of that and recommend that they run everything through snopes. If they CONTINUE to send me stuff like that, I start hitting "reply to all" and let EVERYONE know that the email was a hoax.

I have also had the situation where I had someone (a relative) who NEVER EVER EVER sent me a personal email, but I'd still get 10 emails a day from them....all forwarded crap. I asked them to please stop. Told them I'd love to hear about them and their day and things like that, but I just don't have the time to read all the emails. I haven't gotten an email since. ;)

I believe I'm the only one here that likes them. :teeth: It's okay- It's good to be different! ;)

I once got a prayer one. I replied that I would say the prayer but God didn't care if I sent it to 5 people. I might be a little superstitious but I still don't believe I will be sent to hell because I didnt sent the chain letter... :thumbsup2

I hardly ever forward things to people, unless it's a joke and I think it's really funny. Nothing terrible has happened to me, loved ones, the intimate part of my life, or anything else that these chain letters threaten... (knock on wood!)
:teeth:

Remember in the old days when you'd get an actual chain letter in the *MAIL*? And then you'd have to write it out 10 times longhand and send it on because nobody had computers? It seemed so much more ominous to find one in your mailbox than it does now to get it in email.

I tell my students about this, and they can't even imagine!

I always delete the emails. I hate the ones that tell you to send it to 10 people PLUS the original sender because "I'll know you're a true friend if this comes back to me," or some such nonsense. A true friend wouldn't have sent the dang thing to begin with!

I delete them and ask repeat offenders to stop spreading this junk to me.

I read them because sometimes they are funny. I don't reply.

However the take a quiz ones always get me. but still no reply or forwarding from me.

My mom loves the darn things.
