Practice Application?

I'm planning on applying for Fall 2012 as soon as the applications roll out in January or February, and I'm really excited about it. But the way my major and program are working out in school, next fall is the ONLY time in the next two years that I can possibly do the CP, and so I'm freaking out about getting everything right. My main panic is passing the web interview, and I've heard a lot of people talking about taking it more than once in preparation for their actual interview. How does that go?

Would I be able to fill out an application for Spring 2012 -- with no intent of actually going to the program that semester -- and take the WBI, and not schedule a phone interview if I passed? Would that have any negative impact on my serious application for next semester?

First off let me say, don't freak out too much! It's not healthy :P but let me try and help you out with at least what they ask in a WBI. I'm not sure if you can do the WBI and not schedule a phone interview just to practice, so sorry, but I can try and tell you the type of questions they ask on it if you'd like?

Like the poster above me said, do not stress out about the WBI. It isn't horrible by any means.

The key to the WBI is to take your time, read it carefully, and limit distractions. A lot of the questions are repeated throughout, but phrased differently. I know it is comprised of some situation questions, as well as some personality questions. With the personality questions, it will have the statement "I am always on time." with which you have to agree or disagree, and then later (maybe 30 questions later), it will say "I am rarely on time." So you just really need to watch that.

Another thing people mess up on are answering for a lot of 'neutrals' for their answers. The whole point of the WBI is to gain a perspective of who you are, so by marking 'neutral,' you're entirely missing the point of the WBI. However, this does not mean to mark 'strongly yes' or 'strongly no' for every single answer. Be truthful! That's what they want to hear.

I personally would not recommend you go through the process of Spring 2012, simply because you don't really need to. If you honestly wanted to take a practice quiz, there are plenty out there you can search for online. The test Disney gives is similar to those handed out by major department stores in applications... just a bit Disney-fied.

I am in the exact situation that you are in, but it will be my only chance ever to do the program so I'm nervous too! However, I have read, watched videos, and heard from a friend who just got accepted for Spring that the WBI is NOT as big of a deal that people make it out to be. I currently work at Gap Kids and we had to do a WBI when we applied. If the WBI for Disney is anything like what I had to do for Gap, then there's not much to worry about. Yes, be honest with the answers but they are seriously common sense. (In other words, don't put "strongly agree" on a question about if you are often late to work. From what I hear, Disney is HUGE on time, so you might as well not even be applying if you say you are late.) I've heard to think of the questions not in everyday situations but in work situations. For example, I am ALWAYS late for personal situations but when it comes to work I am 10-15 minutes early. Overall, just don't stress about it! If you allow yourself to worry too much it could hurt you more in the long run. Relax and be confident with your WBI and phone interview!

Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that you can only take the WBI once every 6 months. If you were to take it now, you would only be able to do it again in April. Which means you would be one of the last ones to be able to apply for Fall which could potentially hurt you because they might have all of their spots filled by then or the only spots still available could be ones that you don't want to do.

I hope this all works out for you! I wish you the BEST of luck! Who knows, maybe we'll be in the program together!

Btw.. What roles are you wanting to do?

Thanks so much guys! I guess I'm just prone to freakouts. I didn't pass a similar test on a job application (for SOME reason... I'll never know why, but essentially I only answered that I don't steal from my employers and do drugs at work, so maybe the were looking for a bunch of high thieves?) and so I'll just be worried until I can take it myself. I know most of it is common sensical stuff, so I'll just take a deep breath and try as best as I can!

Thanks to everyone for their advice! I was wondering some of these questions as well
