We have an 825am PPO Hollywood and Vine breakfast reservation. We have previously done a PPO breakfast here but our reservation was at 805am. How early will they let us in to sign up for Jedi Training? Is it likely that they will seat us earlier than 825? After you are done eating, how far back in the park can you go? Last time we went to meet Olaf after breakfast and I didn't really pay attention to where else we could have gone. We are going mid April while Toy Story is standby only and hoping to get in line prior to rope drop, but I'm not sure if thats realistic with an 825am reservation.

You sign up for Jedi Training before checking in for breakfast. They'll let the ADR people in around 7:45 and you can head for JTA sign-ups and then check in for your breakfast. Everyone in the PPO seating is just considered the first seating of breakfast Your actual ADR time won't mean much

Now our trip was three years ago, so hopefully this has changed. But we had a mid PPO breakfast at H&V and they wouldn’t let us in earlier. And we weren’t able to go back to the JTA. So my daughter who wanted to do it, she and I left H&V earlier than the rest of our party to get her signed up.

I hope they’ve changed that though!

Yes, in December we easily signed up before being seated at H&V when they let us in around 755. Just wasn't sure the differences with a slightly later ADR and then how far back in the park you can go when you are done eating. Will we end up being behind the rope drop crowd if we are trying to go all the way back to Toy Story?

My daughter (7 years old) and I had a PPO ADR at H&V last Monday (4/9/18) and I'm happy to report our recent experience. Our goals in booking this breakfast were to start a long day of touring with a good breakfast, sign up for JTA with our pick of time slots, meet Sofia and Doc (my daughter didn't really care about Jake or Manny), and be in a good position at RD to ride TSM before lines got out of control. This day was supposed to be the first day that TSM would be down to one track and have no FPs, so this last goal was definitely a priority since we definitely wanted to ride but did not want to suffer a potentially multi-hour wait later in the day. [As it turned out, they postponed the shutdown of the second track and there were 2 tracks and SD FPs available all week, but none of us knew that at the time.] We were very satisfied with our experience.

Monday was our first day in the parks, and we planned to spend the morning at HS before park hopping to AK before lunchtime. Our original goal was to ride TSM, RnRC (2x), ToT (2x), and Star Tours and also for my daughter to do JTA. On the eve of the trip, my daughter decided she was no longer interested in JTA, but I didn't know if that would stick come game time. We arrived in the HS parking lot around 7:20 AM and there was very little activity (nor had there been a CM at the parking entrance). I had misplaced my AP, so I stopped at the one open ticket window to get it replaced. Turns out that took less than a minute, so we then continued on to the taps. The line to the far left was for PPO ADRs, and we got in line behind the only 2 other people there. Around 7:30 a CM came out with a tablet to confirm that everyone in our line did, in fact, have an early dining reservation. Those that didn't were sent to line up at the other taps and told they would not be let in until at least 8:30.

At about 7:50 they began letting our line through the taps. We had been chatting with the folks ahead of us for several minutes at this point, so we walked to H&V together and were the first to arrive and check-in. I confirmed with my daughter that she did not want to do JTA and she stuck to her guns. There were multiple CMs in the area who were directing guests to JTA signup and encouraging guests to do so before breakfast in order to have first choice of slots.

Our new friends from line were called in first right at 8AM, and then we were called right after them and shown to our table. We placed our drink orders and then proceeded to the buffet. The spread had a nice variety of hot and cold foods. If you have done a breakfast buffet at Disney before, it is pretty much what you would expect. There was nothing that surprised me, good or bad. Service was nice, with our server checking in a few times to refill drinks, check on us, and accommodate my request to settle the check early so we would not be delayed after we finished eating. Our table was right next to the start of the buffet and we each made multiple trips through and fueled up.

I was pleasantly surprised that the characters started coming around to the tables right away (rather than waiting until 8:30 like Akershus, for example). Sofia and Doc came first within a few minutes of each other, and both took time to interact with my daughter and pose for photos. Jake came by a few minutes later and did the same. My daughter was genuinely indifferent towards Handy Manny ("I've barely heard of that guy", which I thought was a funny thing for a 7 year old to say about a cartoon character), so we didn't bother waiting for him. I'm sure it would have just been a few more minutes, but getting in front of the RD crowd was a priority for us.

We exited H&V at 8:35 and were the first non-CMs out on Hollywood Blvd. The CMs showed us to the RD "starting line" and told us that TSM was experiencing some technical difficulties and would be opening late (hopefully by 9:15 or 9:30). We were able to see the crowds behind us coming through the taps, and soon a mass of humanity emerged through the entrance and descended upon us. There were definitely some grumbles when the CMs repeated the news about TSM. It was clear that the overwhelming majority, with no FPs available at that time and in anticipation of the single tracking, were there to go to TSM first.

A few minutes before 9 the CMs lined up and showed the crowd which CMs to follow for each ride. We were at the front of the crowd and followed the CMs headed to TSM. They walked briskly enough that there was lots of fast walking and jockeying for position around us. We allowed the most aggressive to pass us, but were still among the first 25 guests or so by the time we got in line. They held us outside until the technical issues were resolved. At 9:15 they announced the ride would be opening and within a minute or two we had our 3D glasses and were firing away. By the time we exited, the standby line was huge and waits were posted at 60 minutes (I heard it quieted down later in the day, and was certainly better for most of the rest of the week).

Overall, we really enjoyed our breakfast at H&V. We had a hearty meal to start the day, met the characters my daughter wanted, and were able to be at the front of the crowd at RD. Happy to answer any questions anyone might have, but I'd recommend it if you want to get up early and have a great start to your day at HS without losing any park time.

This is exactly what our plan is for June! I was worried about getting ahead of the crowds for TSMM but glad to hear it can be done! Thanks for the great details.

What time was your reservation? We had an 805 reservation back in December and had a similar experience with getting in and out of the restuarant pretty quick and we did sign up for Jedi training before breakfast, but this time we have an 825 reservation. The TSMM standby only thing is really cramping my plans though!! I’m afraid with 825 reservation, we will actually be behind the rope drop crowd.

You’ll be allowed through the entrance with all the 8:00a people and you will be seated as soon as you check-in and they begin seating.

Pay for your meal as soon as you are seated and you won’t have to wait to pay after your meal.

Yes, I second all of this. The CMs working the PPO ADR line don't distinguish among reservation times. As long as your ADR is before 9 am they let you in, in the order you are in line. You will be seated at H&V roughly in order of check-in. They will consider your 8:25 the same as a 8:00, so you can too. Enjoy!

I heard that Goofy from Roadster Racers will be replacing Handy Manny in May. Anyone else hear this?

Just be sure to show up around 7:30 and be earlier than everyone else in that PPO line. At 7:50, you will be behind a lot of people and that could slow you down.

Yes, this is important too. A few minutes can make a real difference. We were the second party to be seated and (without rushing our meal, but not lingering either) the first out of H&V. This allowed us to be at the front for RD and ride TSM as soon as it opened. We were then able to ride both RnRC and ToT with minimal standby waits and have the 3 biggest rides in HS under our belts by 10 AM without using a FP yet. We were then able to use our FP+ for RnRC and ToT in quick succession for second rides on both before leisurely making our way across the park to watch JTA and ride Star Tours on FP (standby line was short too) before leaving the park around noon. We felt like we were ahead of the crowds all morning and did everything we wanted to in HS before lunch. Folks who showed up later to breakfast and/or took their time and missed RD did not have those advantages.

Great info! Thanks for all your help! I had kind of given up on riding TSMM this trip, but I may rearrange our touring plans and try to rope drop it. Now to pick a different Jedi training time....

You're welcome laraashley4. You should have your pick of JTA time slots when you sign up that early, so plan around the one that works best. We had a particular one worked into our touring plan, and we ended up watching the one my daughter would have been in had she not decided she didn't want to do it. I see you are taking all the grandparents with you. That will be a great time, no doubt. Best of luck! We took 3 grandparents with us last November and it was a wonderful trip, but it involved "Normandy invasion"-level planning in advance on my part and lots of herding cats once we were down there. It created priceless memories for everyone and, even though it was stressful for me, I am very glad we did it. I hope everything works out and you all have a great time!

@Greg Lembrich - Thank you so much! "Normandy invasion level planning" seems like the perfect description! Everyone is super excited and I am trying to move past being stressed to excited, but its Disney so it doesn't take much to get me excited! Oddly enough, I find HS the hardest park to create a touring plan even though it is so small right now. My children are young and too small/scared for ToT/RnR (but Hubby and I love them) and it feels like the rest of the park is shows with very specific times. Then add in the fact that Jedi Training takes up about an hour of your day once you arrive 30 min early for your show and it suddenly seems like we are there all day to hardly do anything. But my son is a huge Star Wars fan and its his favorite park. I was trying to talk him out of Jedi Training again and he responded "But Mom, I still have so much more to learn from the Jedi Masters! I couldn't learn it all in one training!" Ha!

What time was in your plan? Your day sounds very much like what we plan on doing with our three kids - we've got a 8:15 H&V, rope drop TS, etc.

Well, I had given up hope of rope drop TS. We have FP for RnR and ToT at 940 (using the grandparent bands since they don’t want to ride either), frozen sing along at 1100, and star tours at 12. I had planned on doing the first Jedi training at 940, but if we can rope drop TS, I will need to completely switch that.

Our plan was RD TSM, then do RnRC and ToT standy once each by 10 or so (which we were able to do, even with the delayed opening at TSM). We then used our 9:15-10:15 RnRC FP+, followed immediately by our 10:15-11:15 ToT FP+. Original plan was to have daughter do 11:40 JTA, followed by using our 11:15-12:15 Star Tours FP+ right after JTA. This would have given us plenty of time to get across the park after ToT to arrive for JTA check-in by 11:10, do JTA, and then ride Star Tours immediately after, leaving HS a little after 12 to hop to AK for lunch and afternoon/evening touring.

My daughter opted out of JTA herself, so we had even more time to leisurely stroll from ToT over to Star Tours, look around some stores, FaceTime the grandparents, etc. We then rode Star Tours near the beginning of our FP window and afterward watched the 11:40 JTA that I originally planned to sign her up for. She enjoyed watching other kids do it, but was not jealous to not be doing it herself. We then made our way out of the park and were back at our car in the parking lot and on our way by just a few minutes after Noon.

We were planning only on rides and JTA, not any shows, which admittedly made our planning easier. Nonetheless, this was our plan and it worked out despite a slightly delayed opening at TSM (and my daughter deciding not to do JTA, but that didn't really later our plans). Hope this helps.
