Cast: Me, DH and DD 3 1/2
Day 1 - Sunday, 12/4
We left at 6:30 AM dropped the dog at doggy Disneyland and headed South. We made it in 5 hours. I was sure DD would fall fast asleep early on but she held out until the last hour of the ride.
I had contacted Vacation Planning prior to arriving and asked for an autographed picture of a character for DD at check in. I had also ordered her a Princess basket to be delivered later in the day.
Check in at the PPH was a breeze. It is a beautiful hotel and had a lovely tree in the lobby decorated in blues, greens and purple in a sea theme. The gal that checked us in was wonderful. She excused herself and came back a few minutes later with balloons for my DD and an evelope with her name on it. She told DD it was from Mickey and he wanted a very special little girl to have it!
Our room was not ready as it was not quite Noon so we headed off to White Water Snacks and had a great lunch! If you exit through the main entrance of the PPH and cross the street the GC is right there. We also noticed the entrance to the CA Adventure was located near White Water Snacks as well. This discovery of these two short cuts would be used quite a bit in the next few days.
We then went to CA Adventure and our first ride was Soaring. It was awesome. DD liked it but was scared by the fireworks at the end. We then went to Play House Disney which she loved!
Our room was ready by 3 and we were pleasantly suprised to find we had a view of CA Adventure. Since we had a standard room, I was expecting a Parking lot view. The view of CA Adventure was awesome and we all enjoyed watching the mail boomer, sun wheel and roller coaster for quite some time. We were on the 6th Floor.
DD opened her envelope from Mickey and found character stickers, post cards, coloring pages, Cheetah girl tattoos and an autographed picture of the Princesses in front of the castle. I was really impressed with this complimentary service VP provided. They ROCK!
After lugging up our luggage and resting a bit we headed out to Downtown Disney for some shopping and dinner. It was quite crowded due to the Candlelight Processional Weekend and we ended up at La Brea Bakery. We dined outside under a spaceheater and it was one of our most enjoyable meals. Great service, great food and the people watching kept us all busy especially my DD!
After venturing around downtown, we headed back up the room. The Princess basket had been delivered while we were out and my DD was thrilled! I was so glad we had ordered it for her! It kept her busy for our entire stay!
Lights out at 9PM. A great first day!
