PPH - BWPI or Ramada Maingate? which one

I am looking at booking for December and am looking at PPH, BWPI9 (sp?), or Ramada Maingate. Which would you book and why?

I know it is a long ways away but coming from Alaska...I need to plan and save and kind of have an estimate of the cost...

Is that Best Western Park Place Inn? We have stayed there many times and we really like it for our DL trips. It is always clean and the location is the best! It's closer that the onsite hotels. When I stayed at PPH is was actually still the California Pacific Hotel. That was a really long time ago. I can say though, that the PPH is a true hotel. The BWPPI has doors that open onto the parking lot, and no onsite dining. I guess it really depends on what you are looking for.

After safety and cleanliness our main priorities are location and price, so we stay at BWPPI for the location, and the price is not too bad. I hope I helped a little!

If you can swing it, I'd go with PPH -- particularly if it gets you EMH at DCA!

We are staying at PPH for the first time but not until Nov/Dec. Had booked BWPPI but my friend stays at PPH regularly and her reviews swayed us to move. Good luck with your decision!

PPH if you can get a room. I'd make reservations soon though. December isn't far away at all in Disney terms because it is such a busy time to go. When in December are you looking at going?

I'd go BWPPI, followed by Ramada. We've stayed at both but like that BWPPI is closer to the main entrance. Both are more like motels but that never bothered me. Never stayed in PPH but can't justify the added expense just to get in the parks early. The other perks aren't enough to sway me either.

For the record, I'm a DVC owner and have stayed on-site but I still go with off-site at DL when points or rooms aren't available.

We are going in December but in 2013 so I am doing my research ahead of time. Hope to book in January - should have enough saved up by then thinking about doing a vacation package through Disney (air, hotel, tickets, transportation to and from the airport, etc) just because if something changes, I don't have to contact different vendors but I am still thinking if I want to go with a package or not.

can someone tell me the difference is walking time or distance each hotel is or where I can find that information? Thanks

We stayed at Ramada a couple years ago. We enjoyed it and that staff was really friendly. Chose this one because their website always has deals. We stayed in a standard room, enough for 3 adults and 1 child. Parking is a plus there, lots of it and when we went it was not an extra fee. Water pressure is really low during peak times, 7-8pm and 5-6am. I liked the small store in the front, convenient for snacks! We have decided to try different hotels especially since we added another child Last year we tried Del Sol Inn and this year we are trying Desert Inn and Suites. Havent tried the other 2 you mentioned!

I've stayed at BWPPI and it wasn't anything special. We are staying at Ramada next month and I already like it. Their customer service is amazing, their pool gets fantastic reviews, and I hear their new remodels are great. The difference in walking time one minute, maybe a tad bit more. We ate at Tony Roma's when we were there last time, (Which is where Ramada is) and I had to walk back to BWPPI twice during dinner (To change the baby, and because I forgot his paci when I changed him ) Close enough to where the walking distance is negligible.
Plus, when I was pricing hotels this trip, it was $140 a night at BW and $99 at Ramada (With their gas special it will come out to less, too.) They also have free internet, parking, and breakfast. (Which BW had free breakfast, but we had to pay for parking.)

Are you going to have a rental car? If not, the BWPPI often offers a "no car" discount. You have to go directly to their site, look at your dates and then there's a little pull down menu for "rates" or something like that. "No Car" is near the very bottom of the list.

I know this saved us BIG money on our trip last October!

And, it's literally right at the crosswalk. 5 minutes or less to the gates, depending on how fast you walk and how long the line is at security.

It's not fancy, but it's clean and comfortable. We preferred it to the Tropicana next door, which we just stayed at last week.

No car rental. We have stayed onside that past three times - 2 at DLH (before remodel) and once at GCH. If we could swing it GCH would be our choice.

I know it will be one of three hotels. Doing more research on the boards. I know I have been spoiled staying on property but may have to go off site.

I think for our 30th we will try Ramada Inn and use the money we save for some special treats.

Also and looking at getting APs for the three of us because I want to go back for Halloween time and my hubby has a B-day in October. So looking at 2014 ( our passes will still be good from 2013). I am hopping to surprise my hubby. We may stay on site then because I will be looking at just 4 or 5 instead of 8 or 9.

Another Alaskan here. Liking this thread as we begin planning for a September 2013 trip.
