Which would you choose and why??? We are deciding betweern PP and HOJO. We're looking at upper level park view at PP. We stayed at HOJO in June and were very happy. How much for a taxi to HOJO? Any thoughts are appreciated. We're traveling February 22-26.

HoJo. It's less expensive (even though they're not currently showing the Entertainment rate for your stay dates) and it's the same distance as PP, even if you cut through the GCH from PP.

See "How Far Is It?" article with links that show the paths and compare the distance in feet: http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=mm060329as

I'm not sure you'd really want to take a taxi from HoJo when it's 7 minutes' walk to the security tables, unless you have trouble walking... but then you'd probably want an ECV for the parks, in any case.

We did take a taxi from HoJo to the front entrance of the Grand Californian when we went there for dinner, because I was wearing heels and didn't want to walk that far through DTD. Before the tip it was just under $8.00.

Just my 2 cents... :)

Any thoughts on why the entertainment rate would not be available these dates???

The entertainment rate is only available at select times and on certain number of rooms--it might not be available for those dates or the rooms at that rate are already sold out. BUT (and it's a big but) the rates change often so you could keep checking.

Now, I like HOJO and yes, it can be less expensive, but I really like the PP (in fact am staying there tonight and tomorrow!) I like the convenience of having the Lilo and Stitch breakfast downstairs. the only thing I don't like is that the elevators can be really slow.

I've never stayed at either one, but I would lean toward PP unless it is a lot more expensive. Actually, I would get the AP8 rate and stay at DLH for $10/night more than PP, but I don't know if you would want to do that. If you upgrade from a hopper to an ap for one of you, it could well be worth it. That's what I did last month. I got an AP from Costco which gave me the $50 gift card, which can be used almost anywhere in the resort, including upgrading passes or paying on your hotel bill. The cost for the Costco ap is $269--same as at the park or online, but the $50 gift card is a nice bonus! The AP rate saved us a bundle on the hotel so it was worth it, as it was only $60 more to upgrade from my hopper price. The only downside is that you have to get the above AP from a SoCal Costco.

Additionally, there is an offer for the DLR hotels between Jan 6 and May 13 (arrival by April 30) that if you stay 4 nights, you get a $150 gift card. Here are the details:

To qualify for the $150 Disney Gift Card, must stay a minimum of four nights at a Disneyland Resort Hotel. Not valid for previously booked rooms. Maximum of one $150 Disney Gift Card per booking. Cannot be combined with other offers, except the "Everyone Gets In at the Kid's Price" package. May not be applied towards hotel or package price, as applicable. Subject to availability, blackout dates, restrictions and change without notice.

When you stay in a DLR hotel, you get MM every day they offer it, which is T, Th, S, and Sun unless there is a special event. With a hopper, you only get one MM.

Unless you get your hoppers from getawaytoday, and then you get 2 MMs.

I have stayed at and like both hotels, but if I can save between $50 and $100 a night by staying at the HoJo, and use that money to pay for other special things in the parks (special meals, tours or souveniers), then I pick HoJo (and from my siggie you can see I normally do).

I just checked the ap calendar and your dates are a lot more expensive than earlier in Feb. The cost of both DLH and PP for a view room is $275. For a standard room, PP is $221 and DLH is $243. At that cost, I might be tempted to go with HoJo. They're showing a rate of $110/night for a premium room for those dates. That's a big savings over the other 2, even with the $150 gift card (which can't be put toward the hotel cost, unlike the Costco one). However, I stay at a resort hotel whenever I can. I'll be staying at HoJos in Jan at the $59 rate, so I'll have a better idea then how I feel about staying there vs DLH, which is my usual choice. In your situation it's tough--save $600 on hotel (not counting the $150 gift card, which narrows the difference to $450), or go for the resort experience? I personally choose the resort experience most of the time, but there are a lot of things you could spend that extra money on in the parks.

We're going in Feb. also, but earlier. I booked DLH concierge for $279. Standard was $149, view $169-$189 depending on floor.

Oh, I thought the 2 MM deal with getawaytoday ended after Jan 1.

Woman! Tonight and tomorrow? Cool!

And yes the elevators are slow, unless you choose the Glass Elevator of Death, or at least of A Good Scaring.

Though hubby and son loved the glass elevator.

We stayed at PPH for 4 days, then at HoJo for 3 days (or something like that) in September 2007. We liked HoJo MUCH better!

Alas, for this upcoming trip HoJo is, so far, almost as much as the AP special rate at PPH for Friday and Sunday, and Saturday isn't available at all, so we went with the AP7 rate at PPH. It'll be nice b/c we'll check in EARLY on Saturday and get MM both Sat and Sun! Being AP holders we don't get Magic Mornings any other way.:upsidedow

Well, since we just returned from WDW I had told myself we sould stay at HOJO. But, now I am reconsidering, we will be celebrating DD 6th birthday and I really want to stay at DLH. I'm splitting the cost with my DM and she doesn't care where we stay. I'm leaning towards DLH but will probally change my mind 50 times. Thanks for your thoughts!

The only thing I don't like is that the elevators can be really slow.

The trick to the elevators we discovered is to hit the up button when trying to go down in the morning. I think the elevators are weight sensitive, so they go to the top floors, fill with people, then don't stop till they hit the ground floor. However you can usually get it to stop on its way up, then just ride it to the top and back down to the ground floor. ;)
