Have you checked the fuses? Get out your owmers manual and see which one it is, take it out and put it back in and if need be try replacing it completely. It is a possibility that is got loose or it burned out and it could be a very inexpensive fix. If not, I think the window mechanism runs abound $100 plus labor.

It's been over ten years since we have had a problem with the windows in one of our Chevies, but before that we had about three or four window motors replaced in an Astro and a Blazer. A couple of times the window would go all the way down and then become detached from the lifting mechanism. My husband took the door apart and was able to fix that. The other times the motors had to be replaced by the dealer. It was a couple of hundred dollars then; I have no idea how much it would cost now.

Sadly, the repair on my side window was almost $400. I hope you have better news than I did.

This happened to us last year. I stood on the outside of the window and pulled up on it as my dh did the really hard part and pushed the button. It worked and didn't take much tugging. Which was a good thing since we were on vacation at the time. It hasn't happened since.

One of the back windows in my Saturn wouldn't come back up just last week. We managed to get it back up by pulling on it -- so I hope told everybody NOT to put it back down -- I don't have $200-$400 to have it fixed right now.

I just had TWO done- one on my van and one on my saturn! Between the 2 of them it ran about 725.00

I HATE HATE HATE power windows! Every car I have ever owned I have had to fix atleast one! It has always run me a little over $200. I got really good at pulling up the window myself on one of mine, then the other side broke and never could get it up!

I hate them too!

I hear silicon spray works- I bought some but havent tried it yet

If you have side airbags it will be more expensive. Good luck. Try pulling it up like others have suggested and then don't touch it.

My mom's 10 year old Cadillac had this happen last month - it cost $330 at the dealership. I almost fainted when I wrote the check. Hopefully, yours will be an easier, less costly repair.

Both of my rear window motors went on the same day...within 10 minutes of each other...1 month after warranty ended on my Land Rover. $600.00 per window plus labor. I cried. :sad1:

go to your most trusted garage and ask them to look. My Chevy venture's drivers window sticks when it is wet. I don't open it if it has been raining in the last day or two, only if it is really hot and I know it is dry inside. My guy pulled it up (after Chevy looked at it and gave me the ?!@$ price). My guy told me it happens sometimes and I noticed how the black stuff didn't always keep the water out of the door but the motor worked fine again after a couple of days. Good luck !

Our old chevy venture's windows used to stick all the time. It's not the best way to make it work but if you have someone bang on the inside of the door while someone else hits the button it usually goes back up.

Pulling it helps too. I noticed the same thing pyrxtc said, in the wet or humid weather it was worse. We never got it fixed and it was working the last I know. We got rid of it a few years ago.

This just happened last week with my husbands Taurus. Thankfully it was the switch and he was able to easily remove the door cover, unhook it and order a replacement for $25 on eBay.
When it happened in our jeep it was the support that holds the window up, which can only be replaced with the whole motor, so $400 times 2 windows!!
Hope you get lucky and it is a cheap fix!

Call a local glass company, we used to replace regulators for around $50 labor if you provided the part. Just depends on the part you need, they might charge you a small diagnostic fee but I think it is cheaper there than a normal garage or dealership. Good luck!

Happened to the drivers side window in our chevy tahoe as we were leaving for walt disney world. What a pain. We had to open the door every time we hit a toll. I think it was just under $200 to fix but worth every penny since it was the drivers door.

I assume your vehicle doesn't have a warranty? This happened to our van, but was covered under warranty less the $100 deductible....

No it is not under warranty.DH has an appointment tomorrow morning to have it fixed. Hopefully it won't be an arm and a leg as I also have an appointment tomorrow afternoon for my DD's eye exam...I'm thinking new glasses willbe in order...It's always something but the multiple somethings are killing me lately:scared1:Wish us luck please;)
