Was anybody else affected by this yesterday? I was in the middle of replying to a post on the DIS at 8:45 yesterday morning when everything went off. I looked out of the window and saw a plume of thick black smoke coming from not too far away so went off to see what was going on and discovered our local sub-station had gone bang!

We were without electricity from 8:45 until it finally came back on at 9:40 p.m. just after we had given up and gone to bed. Luckily everything in the fridge and freezer appear to have survived.

Yes. We're in Beckenham and were without power for a few hours - tho' i got up late and slept thro' most of it... ;)

No, we were OK , but its a standing joke in our town as we are always having power cuts, and for the past five years we have had one on christmas eve!! I know what you went through, all that wondering, waiting and hoping the freezer survives.I can also tell you its no fun preparing a turkey in candle light!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We all went for a swim at a pool near to us then showered there afterwards (we have a combi boiler so no hot water either). We went to Biggin Hill air show so were out for most of the disruption....
Where are you then, David?

I'm in Sydenham, just up the road from Home Park.
