Power Pass...They CHANGED the summer 2005 blackout dates...

I haven't heard back from my email yet. It's been a few days. How long did it take for them to respond to you?

Any updates? I didnt catch the segment on the news and havent been able to find any other info on it anywhere. Anyone else get the same offer as Bovril?

The change isn't bad only for Power Pass holders, it's bad for those of us who purchased Prefered Annual Passes who assumed that the days blacked out would affect us in the summer, but now it wouldn't. We spent the extra $60 per pass so we could go in the summer on the weekend once for vacation. We're changing that to October now due to this change, instead of both dates.

Just got off the phone with guest services at the annual pass office they state the cut off date is May 1, 2005 ..if tickets where purchased prior to this date blackout dates will not be enforced and we will be permitted in park....

Okay, now I'm confused :confused3 We purchased our power passes in March. What are our blackout dates??? TIA

Really? That's great! They still haven't responded to my second e-mail (I've previously posted about that)In my first e-mail, I specifically asked them if they were honoring those purchased before the change and their response was -Unfortunately the dates HAVE changed to the ones listed below. That sounded like a no to me. Maybe they got enough outcry and changed their minds!

I am going to contact them today.

Sorry I was MIA for a few days. My 4 year old daughter was in the hospital all weekend with a severe strep infection! She's all better now though!

Well, that's good news. I still haven't heard back from either email. I also have never heard from them "officially" that there were changes to my power passes.
I hope this is a consistant answer.

I just received a response to the email I sent on 5/23/05. I was told they would upgrade our power passes to PAP's for free :flower: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I purchased my passes March 2005 and was wondering who do I email and what exactly should I say in this email in order to get my passes upgraded as well :confused3

Thanks guys :sunny:

I just read about this - we were planning on purchasing Power Passes, but now we may just do the 5 day thing. Too bad for Universal, because with our last Power Passes, we took three trips and stayed at Universal resorts. I think they made a lot of $$$ out of us! With the 5 day, one trip and we're done.

Just a thought - I was reading the top 10 most attended theme parks in 2004, and USF wasn't in the top 10. I would think this move would move them further down, since less folks will be visiting during those weekdays instead of weekends.

I'm glad to hear those of you who have already purchased your passes are getting some restitution from Universal. I would be extremely upset if I were in your shoes! Good luck!

Following are the top ten most attended North American theme parks, according to "Amusement Business." The info includes the name of the park, its location, its 2004 estimated attendance, and how it compared to the previous year's attendance.

1. Magic Kingdom - WDW (15.1 million), 8% higher than 2003

2. Disneyland (13.3 million), 5% higher than 2003

3. Epcot (9.4 million), 9% higher than 2003

4. Disney-MGM Studios (8.2 million), 5% higher than 2003

5. Disney's Animal Kingdom (7.8 million), 7% higher than 2003

6. Universal Studios - Orlando (6.7 million), 14% higher than 2003

7. Islands of Adventure (6.3 million), 13% higher than 2003

8. Disney's California Adventure (5.6 million), 6% higher than 2003

9. SeaWorld Orlando (5.6 million), 4% higher than 2003

10. Universal Studios Hollywood (5 million) 8% higher than 2003

I suspect that Universal Studios Orlando would be 11th on that list as it is only a little lower than Animal Kingdom which is 10th worldwide. I doubt the change in dates in the Power Pass will have much impact on attendance as PP purchase is very low compared to day and multi-day passes. Most PP owners are Florida residents who are often more flexible with when they can visit.

I do agree that Universal shouldn't have changed the dates for those who had already purchased their Power Passes though.

I think it's great that they changed the dates. Now we get upgraded to PAP's for free :flower:
