In the news in New Orleans they said that they will have a listing of when and where the blackouts for electricity will be in the CA area. Does anyone know where it will be listed and especially when the DL area will be out? What happens if you are in the parks on the days they lose power? It would be upsetting to all of us if the parks are down when we finally get there! Would they refund money - since we will not have a car - what do we do for food? How long are they out at a time - all day - a few hours? This is somewhat worrisome?!?!

Thanks.

I read somewhere that the Governor of CA (or somebody like him, Eisner?), stated that DL ran on an independent power source and would not be effected by the rolling power outages at all. I'm not sure if that includes the DL area hotels or not.

I'm heading there Thursday, so if I find out anything (good or bad) I'll let everyone know.

So far Anaheim (including Disneyland area) has not been affected by the brown outs to the best of my knowledge. I live in Anaheim and we have not had one yet. We get our power from the City of Anaheim not Southern California Edison. They get it from another source so knock on wood (on wood not my head MaryJo) there won’t be a problem.

According to a news report yesterday, they will be susceptible to blackouts. However, they have emergency generators for safety backup, and would have enough reserve power to safely evacuate any rides, light the exits, etc. Blackouts rarely last more than 2 hours, but they are EXTREMELY disruptive.

So,with blackouts in mind, and as my trip is still in planning only, When do you think the blackouts will end? this fall, next year or Later????

I have a 2002 trip in the planning stage but may change my plans if blackouts are happening.

We are going - black outs or no blackouts- I decided long ago that if I considered all the what ifs then I would never leave the house. Now that's not to say I don't plan and gather all information but things that are beyond my control just will not keep me from doing what I want! Life is too short !

Remember this is just my opinion and proably not worth more than 2 cents!

Hey there!
Ok first off.....The future plan is to be able to predict the power outages and warn people. However this is NOT in effect as of yet.
Next....The outages are not as bad as you think! They are very scattered in area so across the street or down a block they might have power. So you WONT be totally stuck with Anaheim going completely dark. Also as someone already noted they rarely last more then an hour 1/2!
Hope this helps and by all means dont postpone your trip because of this. If it goes out tonight 99.9 % sure it wont go off in the same area for at least a few weeks!
Signing off!
Bethy in CA

The news says this power problem will last for several years. But with the prediction system and the infrequency of the outages nobody has anything to worry about.
