Power out in LA?

according to the TV, 2 power surges went through downtown LA. The electric company is looking into the problems.

We just got a message that the power is out in our LA office.

Not sure what's going on.

hi all,
cnn is reporting most of L.A. is without power but lax is running smooth and does have power.cnn says it's more of a brown out the a black out.some places do have power.

I just heard that it is a brown out and not a total black out. Not sure if someone already said that.

Fox reports the LA police dept. says this is NOT terrorist related. Extremely bad timing though after yesterdays Al Qaeda threat.

That was my first thought Virgo...does not seem to be related though.

Some sections are now seeing the power coming back on. ABC7 is reporting that in Glendale every other street is affected and in other areas it is now back on.

hi all,
cnn is reporting a power worker accidently broke or cut a power line.this was the reason this happened.

fox 5 nyc is reporting power being restored slowly now

From the Washington Post:

Heavy power usage can lead to blackouts. But the weather in Los Angeles was not unusually hot Monday, with temperatures around the low 70s when the power went out.

An official with the city Department of Water and Power said it appeared the problem began when two power receiving stations failed. That forced several larger generating stations to shut down, according to Robert Rozanski, chief administrative officer.

My comfort level with having a child in college in L.A. has dropped considerably in the last few weeks. This news added a few more gray hairs. :( :(

With all the recent news I thought you were talking about L.A. as in Louisiana. We have been gone most of the evening and haven't seen the news. :rotfl2:
