Power of Attorney for Add On ??(long)

I thought I had my NYer Beach Club Villa add on problem solved when I found out that I was going to a conference in Orlando later this month. But, when I called my guide he said that since my dh's name is on the original contract he has to come to Orlando to sign the papers also. Dh can absolutely not come at the same time I do. My guide said that we might be able to do the purchase if I get my husband's power of attorney to bring with me. My question is---has anyone else purchased DVC and used a power of attorney ? Any information on how this might work would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

Although I never have, I'd be very interested in the answer to this because recently I ran into a problem where DH wasn't available to sign for an add-on. DH travels a lot, and was in another country when we got the papers for the add-on. He just told me to go ahead and sign them, rather than wait til he got back. So, shame on me, I forged his signature! But I got caught-a couple weeks later, DVC called me, said DH's signature looked different from the original deed (We both knew why) and they sent the papers back to be signed again. Needless to say, this made the whole process of buying an add-on longer than if I'd just waited for DH in the first place. But I'd love to know about this power of attorney thing since he does travel so much, and is often not home.

Debby, read my messages that Webmasterdoc linked you to. It went very smooth. Originally they The Title Company had not approved it because it had no wording about financing/mortgaging, etc. I told them it was a cash deal and they approved it. Luckly my attorney did not charge me for the two poa, one from me to my bil and one from my dh to my bil. I chose my bil so that my sister could stay at hotel with two children. He was picked up at hotel and back within an hour. We are actually closing this Wed. Call Member Administration (get # from your guide) and get as much info. as they need. Good luck and let us know.
