Potentially stupid AKV & SSR questions

Hi all. Heading down for our first WDW stay on our AKV contract in about 10 days (we've previously used our points to stay at VGC). We have 7 days in a savannah studio at Kidani and 9 days at a studio at SSR (requested Congress Park).

Question #1
Given our extended stay, laundry is going to be an issue. Wondering if anyone can give me a rough estimate of the number of public washers/dryers available at the two resorts. I'm assuming that the number of rooms that need access to these facilities is reasonably low as 1br and larger have built-ins, but I'd prefer not to have to do laundry at 3 in the morning if that is the only time the machines are available.

Question #2
Laundry at 3 am wouldn't be the worst thing, since I'm an insomniac. That being said, my standard m.o. is to watch netflix/hulu on my iPad in the night, so I don't disturb my wife and daughter with the tv.

Can anyone comment on the strength of the wifi signals at these two resorts and whether it is strong enough in the rooms to do this (failing which, I'll just spring for extra data from my cell provider). In the last 12 months, I've had good luck with wifi at VGC, but the wifi signal at the Disneyland Hotel was so weak that I couldn't even stream radio.

Thanks all!

I can only comment on Kidani...

My kids watch Netflix all the time at Kidani.
I seem to remember maybe 4 washers and maybe 8 dryers...

It is probably hit or miss with them...
Anyone in a 1 or 2 bedroom does laundry in their room.
Sometimes they are empty all day, sometimes they are busy...
I don't think you would need to wait until 3am though.

Question 1
We did a studio in Congress Park at Saratoga last November and I did a wash Monday morning. It's next to the quiet pool and I saw no one there. It had two washers and either three or four driers.

You could easily do wash and enjoy the pool at the same time.

Public Laundry rooms at SSR are near each pool.

FWIW, I believe Kidani laundry machines are HE models, but SSR was not built with HE machines..

I can't help with Kidani but there is a laundry room at the Congress Park quiet pool at SSR. Wifi at the resorts is not very good in general but maybe at the times you want to stream it may be better. There is also a larger laundry room next to Community Hall near the Springs and the Wifi may be better there.

I always seem to have luck doing laundry in the mornings. Most people are hitting the parks that time of day. I either do it on a planned pool day or get up a little early to start a load, shower while it washes, thn switch to dryer while I pack up for the day, get breakfast etc. I find the laundry rooms pretty busy in the evenings.

Can't help you with Kidani, but at SSR I have used the laundry by the main pool when we stayed in a studio. The laundy there is pretty big. I'm not sure exactly but I think there were about 6 washers and 6 dryers. I usually go in the early afternoon, when the kids are at the pool, and I've never had a problem with getting machines.

WiFi streaming (NetFlix and some other video sites on an iPad) was problematic for us at SSR at Christmas. Reception was okay in the LR and on the veranda but the bedroom in the 1BR would hold for 30 minutes or so then would time out. We were in the Grand Stand section next to the pool (sorry, forgot the building number). You may need to activate through the cell phone.

At SSR the laundry room by the Rock Springs pool has 4 washers (one of which is a front loader) and 8 dryers and it has a huge table to fold laundry.

here is a pic of the laundry room

At 3 in the morning you will need your key to get in. The doors to the laundry lock at 10:00p.m

I have had to do laundry at several resorts over the years. My best experience with laundry have been at SSR because of the large size of the main laundry facility. I will usually drive to the main laundry room instead of the one by the quiet pool because there are more machines and a higher probability that I can get a washing machine. My worst experience was at Beach Club. I had trouble locating the laundry room and then found only 2 washing machines and one was out of order. I had to return several times before the machine became available.

Hope you have a great trip.

used the laundry at ssr congress park between 8 - 10 pm in january and never saw anyone else using the machines. they have 2 washers and 4 dryers. All available at no cost. bring your own detergent or you can buy packs in the vending machine in laundry room
