I thought the monkey and the two pirates (eyeball guy and his sidekick) were not undead anymore. Didn't the curse go away at the end of the first one? :confused3
The pirates are now mortal. At the end of the first movie, you see the monkey with a coin and he was undead. So the monkey stole a coin and hte curse is just on him now.

Tammi, good questions you have there. I have a feeling a lot of them will be answered in the last movie. I definitely need to watch this one again to catch it all!

They had so many awesome references to the first one, it was hilarious! I just loved it all!!!!

Wonder when I can watch that one again :scratchin

Briarmom -- If you watch through the end credits on POTC 1, you'll see that after everyone's left, the monkey jumps into the chest and gets a coin, thus making him undead once again.

Ah yes. I had forgotten.

There's a lot from the first movie that ties into the second in some way that I'd forgotten.

Now I'm anxious to go see it again!

ROFL!!

(from IMDB)

When Falling 200 feet down a cliff as long as you go through ten bridges on the way down you will be unharmed.

A water wheel will never fall on its side no matter how many bumps or turns it makes as long as there is a three man sword fight going on inside. Or it hits sand.

A musket ball hitting a wooden keg of gunpowder/rum will automatically cause a fantastic Kraken-repelling explosion.

When all else fails, throw rocks and scream.

Dice games are confusing.

Just when you think all is going well with a chick, she handcuffs you, and leaves you for dead.

Even if you get knocked out by a metal bar at eye-level on the inside of a giant rolling wheel, when you catch up and jump back in to rejoin the fight, it will have disappeared entirely.

Always know where your jar of dirt is.

When your clothes get torn they will miraculously appear unscathed five minutes later.

The key to becoming Chief of a cannibalistic tribe is to confidentally make up funny words.

In the carribean the only thing a woman needs to do to disguise herself as a man, is wear a hat.

Huge ball-shaped cages made of bones will not come apart after long falls down cliffs unless there is water at the bottom.

On some nights, the moonlight does not affect the appearance of undead monkeys.

Too funny!pirate: pirate: pirate: :rotfl:

To add a question:

Why does Jack want to return the heart & not destroy it? Wouldn't destroying it free him from his deal w/ Jones, as well as free the crew?

I guess he thinks Jones has to call off the Krakken or it will keep searching him out.

I loved it when Jack said to Elizabeth (as she cuffed him to the ship) "Pirate".

It was great how Barbosa was munching that apple with the juice running down his chin- remember how he coaxed Elizabeth "Now try the apple".

Maybe the VooDoo Lady was Davy Jones love and that is how she knew so much.

Loved the special effects. Especially HammerHead Shark guy. :lmao:

I assumed it was because whomever has that heart will control the sea. That's why Lord Beckett wanted it as well. If Jack had that, he would have control of the sea as well as all in it.

Hopefully, they will explain the mortality issue (but probably won't). In POTC1- all of the crew were cursed even though there was just one coin gone (the one held by Elizabeth), perhaps when the monkey took a coin at the end of POTC1, all became cursed again- just as before?

When Jack is re-introduced to Elizabeth in POTC2, he comments "Hide the rum".

There are lots of other references to the first movie and lots of unresolved issues to be answered in POTC3.

Can't wait! pirate:

And Barbosa was dead at the end- shot just as he went "mortal" again. Nonetheless.... I was glad to see him. Such a great character. "You better start believing in ghost stories Miss Turner.... YOU'RE IN ONE!"

Went to see it today and all I can saw is WOW! Lot's of special effects in this one that blew me away. I even jumped a few times I was so engrossed in the movie.

One of my favorite references to the first movie was when Will shows up on the beach after they find the chest and he says he rode two sea turtles. LOL

Who played the Lord? I was r\trying to watch the credits but the guy in front of my stood up just as they were getting to him. He looks so familiar but I couldn't place him.

Tom Hollander. He played Mr. Collins in "Pride & Prejudice", in which Keira Knightly played Elizabeth.

I loved, loved, loved this movie. The more I think about it the more I liked it. I am taking my DH on Sunday to see it. :) I too loved the part when Jack said to hide the rum.

We went to see it today and loved it too! Can't wait for #3.

Loved the Hide the Rum comment and how the pirates paused when Will said to throw in the rum with the gunpowder barrels. pirate:

Very good movie. I need to see it again, and again and again There goes more money to disney!

Ahh, two crooked politicans at the end. Very interesting!!!!!!!!!11

Just got back from seeing it. LOVED it. It was funny, exciting, clever, etc. Can't wait for the third one! And Mr. Depp was lovely as always

Saw it tonite too and loved it although it really was a lot more dark than the first movie.

Were there supposed to be any hidden Mickeys in it? We were too engrossed with the story to look for any, but seeing as this is a spoiler thread feel free to spill your secrets. :p

.

It was great! Now I got to watch 1 again!!

I never knew an eye could pop in and out so much :lmao:

Loved Jack! Hide the rum was too funny and also loved how he has everyone doing his dirty work against eachother and is sitting back watching them! He is such an instigator!! I think that is why I enjoy Jack!

Loved all the slaps he got "That one I deserved" :rotfl:

Oh and I thought the compass had they key in it! Seems something more was with the compass???
