POTC whilst pregnant?

Haha, I love this board!

I had a dream last night that I'd got pregnant at Disney.

Must have been during a quiet season or something though as 6am til midnight days removes any hint of romance form a summer trip!

HP I was going to order a birthday cake and then bring a packet of jelly babies to put on it. I was going to give the waiter the jelly babies when I arrived, without the inlaws knowing. I was also considering buying a t shirt with a slogan on, such as 'bun in the oven' and wearing it on the last day.

Emergency kitten: I know what you mean about cancelling. The thing is, it's my inlaws holiday and they're paying, so I can't really ask them to cancel, plus I'm a teacher and have managed to book to go in term time, (my school and I have ccome to an agreement) so this is a golden opportunity for me to miss the crowds :) I'm so pleased to be going to Disney, so i just need to avoid thinking about all the rides I'll be missing!!! I'm also so pleased to be preganant.

The slightly sad thing is, that we were about to book a trip to WDW the day before i found out I was pg, but decided to wait until the following day for booking. It's a good job we waited, as the baby would be due when we were in Florida!!!

congratulations :) we went to DLP when I was three months pregnant and I went on POTC without any problems, in fact I went on it over and over again. I even did BTM but part way through I really regretted it as I was holding onto the bar so tight to try and stop myself bouncing around ... certainly wouldn't recommend it.

HP -

There are several table service places that offer special occasion cakes. Just make sure you ask before hand ... it will be a nice intro for the kids!

we've tried for a disney baby before now. I think if we managed it, it would just have to be called Michael. Or Daisy.

Sleepysox, sorry, didn't want to put a downer on you - I think its fantastic all round, I mean pregnant (yay!) and disney (yay!) - its just that our days generally comprise multiples of: Crush, ToT, BTM, Rock'n'roller, Indy, (plus others, but these are the bulk of it) and as its just the two of us, that would be a bit sad for me wouldn't it!

TBH I'd probably be so pleased to be PG that I'd not mind cancelling - its been a long old road.

Still - no pg means DLP, so there's always a silver lining!!!

Don't worry emergency kitten- you didn't put a downer at all on my trip. :goodvibes

Sorry you're having problems ttc. If you ever want to pm me I'm a good email listener. We were ttc for a long while for ds and for a slightly less time for this one, so I might know a little of what you might be going through, although I know everyone's situation is different.

You're right about no pg= DLP. That's how I got through the emotional roller coaster that ttc can be. I would book a Disney holiday every other year, so i had something to plan for and look forward to. Disney got me through it tbh.

Keep your chin up. I'm sending lots of baby dust your way. :goodvibes

Funny what you said about Disney names- I wanted Mickey for DS, but hubby said he wouldn't let him have any Disney name at all. So we called him Louis- DH didn't realise until recently that Louis is one of Donald's nephews and the orangutang in the Jungle Book- so i got my wish after all!

I'm sure you've tried all the usual things you can do to boost your chances. But if you ever want to know all the extra bits and pieces I tried (and believe helped) just pm me!

Sorry if this has been TMI for anyone, I have tried not to go into great detail.

Personally, I gave POTC a miss when I was pregnant, just to be on the safe side, but then I had 5 miscarriages in a row so maybe I was over cautious, but I wouldn't want to take any chances. There must be a reason that they have the warning on the ride. Sorry if I have put a dampener on your plans.

I can understand your reservation, and would have done the same in your shoes! Thank God I didn't have any complications, or DLRP probably wouldn't have been a choice. It was my choice to do the some what tame rides, but I did stand and wait for DH to get off the coasters - :sad1: This will be the first time we will use the "Baby Swap" ... I think until DS gets older I'll miss being able to ride with DH like before.

Sorry to hear that EK. It took us about 3 years for the 1st one, in the end we gave up trying and went to Folkestone for a weekend away from everything & three weeks later we saw the little blue line

:thumbsup2

So sorry to hear that EK. There's always hope... My cousin and his wife were tryin g for a baby for 14 years!!! Went through IVF and you name it and in the end they gave up trying. She fell pregnant soon after and their little boy will be 2 in Sept.

Keep your chin up, it'll happen.

I went on POTC last year at 5 months pregnant with a big bump and none of the CM stopped me. That was the 'fastest' ride I went on though. I don't think I would have braved Star Tours or BTM or anything like that, but I had my 4 year old with me anyway who only likes the slow rides, so we stuck with them and had a great time!
Congratulations to all the pregnant DISers - I am now desperately waiting for my 10 month old to be old enough to take her!

I can really understand your concerns Karen. I would have done the same in your shoes. :goodvibes

This post has me wondering, are the "warnings" against it because the mother will be uncomfortable, cause nausea, etc

or is there some risk to the baby?

does it matter how far along you are?

is 4 months or less "safe" versus 6 months or more "not so safe"?

Might have to work our family planning around scheduled Disney trips :rotfl2:
