I'm kind of surprised that Haunted Mansion is winning/won this one. I'll try a different one.

I've never been to DisneyLAND.. can you tell me what makes that POTC so much better? what are the differences? I'd love to see pics...

I think world POTC is AMAZING.. would love to know more about Land

Cindy,

I'd heard for years that POTC was better at Disneyland, and I was skeptical. Until I finally got to Disneyland a couple of years ago. It's a lot better. The ride starts off going through a bayou, and the ride's "story" seems to actually make better sense. One thing I particularly liked was that the smoke in the scene of the broadside attack by the pirate ship on the fort actually seems to FILL the room.

Maybe it's because the DL space is cramped, it feels more intimate, maybe more interesting. Dunno. There are subtle differences in the ride, though.

I prefer the Haunted Mansion overall, and I prefer the WDW mansion to the DL mansion, but POTC is definitely better at DL.

We love them both but if I had to pick one - it's HM all the way. Love the atmosphere there!!! :cheer2:

I totally disagree. Everyone had told me how much better the DL version was, and I was very disappointed. To me, the bayou beginning makes less sense, as does the new orleans themed entrance. It's Pirates of the Caribbean, not Pirates of Louisiana. As for the ride itself, the only difference is a couple of extra rooms where you're in total darkness, and that second drop. The second drop was cool, but the dark rooms were pointless, and probably there just because of the lack of space in DL. I ate at the blue bayou restaurant, and that was just weird, not nearly as cool as I thought it would be. The monte cristo was good tho. :>

They are both fantastic rides and it is hard to chose one but I will go with POC, this was my favorite since a little girl, and as I got older I learned to like and now love HM, but IMHO POC is just a tad bit better.

The bayou entrance made complete sense to me - it ties in with Walt's love of American history and the legend of the pirate Jean Lafitte and the city of New Orleans. Lafitte was one of many pirates of the Gulf and Caribbean who used the Louisiana bayous for protection.

As far as preference, it's all eye of the beholder. But as many times as I'd done the MK POTC, I really was surprised that I prefered the DL POTC, for whatever reasons.

That said, every time I've visited the HM in Disneyland the "Nightmare Before Christmas" decorations have been up, which frankly I could do without.

You don't have to think too hard in the elongating room about whether you're you going DOWN at one park or STAYING PUT in the other. You can feel it.

Thanks, Tom.. I never wanted to go to Land before now I"m curious..

:wave2: I have to vote for the Haunted Mansion. For as much as I love POTC, the theming of the HM is unbeatable. I guess I am spoiled, too. I've seen POTC at Disneyland, and wow! is that awesome or what.

:stir: Anyone else skeptical about POTC's rehab going on? Is adding in movie features necessary here?

I haven't been to DL yet, Im going in May and still wont get to see the longer version of POTC :(

But comparing the WDW versions of both, I'll say HM, only because it uses so many different effects and really puts you into a certain mood. It's definitely one of my favorites

It's like asking whether you prefer oxygen or sunlight--you simply have to have them both!

Yes, but you can do w/o sunlight for months. Without oxygen, you a goner in a minute or two.

For my it is Pirates Of The Caribbean. I just love water rides, so I prefer POTC to The Haunted Mansion!!!
