POTC online Beta Test

I finally got my beta key email last night. (What was the point of signing up all those months ago when they first mentioned it if people who just sign up in the last month got a key before me??? It's so Disney)

Anyway, if anyone has a clue to share about where the mansion is so I can get my papers signed and then find Elizabeth...I'd be very grateful.

O.K. so I logged in and made it to Port Royal, but I seem unable to even load the pages here. After 10 minutes of a frozen screen, I rebooted. Now I can't get past the opening page where you select "play". Anyone else having a problem??

*** Correction...I can now hear Port Royal music and slashing sounds, but have BSOD!

Well I am in the same pirate ship (boat) as you. Made it to Port Royal and now can't get in after logging in. I can also hear the sounds then the game shuts down on me.

Arg!!!!! I have a Huge dilemma.

First I bought a Pistol before I met Barbossa by accident
Then when I went to Barbossa I practiced with his.
Finally when I checked my inventory it would not let me use the Pistol I had bought!

And where in Tortuga is the tavern that Jack Sparrow is to meet me?

I am having the same issue with the pistol only I got my training from Barbossa, and then that pistol disappeared, so I bought another, but it won't let me use it. Btw, can anyone tell me where to buy a new sword?

Hi all! I am so glad to have found a PotC discussion! (Actually my friend LittleWoodenHead found you and told me )

I signed up months ago, and just got my beta key in an email a couple of days ago. (It was in my bulk/spam folder - check yours if you are waiting). As with all Disney online anythings, I used my existing account to sign in, no credit card needed.)

My question: In the sword training, I have gotten my Hack and Slash down pat, but with both of my characters I am unable to figure out Sweep. It says move your cursor over the Sweep icon and let go - What Sweep icon? Where? I got nothin'. (I even created my second character just to see if it was a glitch in the first.)

When I am in a 'private' area - the bar, the cannon-practice boat, the sword training, I am able to move well and all my radio buttons do okay. In public ares with any other players, I move maybe once every three minutes. Not quite frozen, but so much worse than what I would call lag! I imagine people whooshing past me in the game see me as though I were afk in VMK; eyes are blinking, but nobody's home.

I am appreciating the smallest hints here - i.e. the ESC butoon, how voodoo will work (once I find it!)

Has anyone had a typed in name approved? They have assigned me "Lefty", but I can't imagine they would not approve Jewel Truebones. (I hate hate hate thier choices of first names).

I am the in the same sinking boat as you are! I got the papers, but have no clue where the governor's mansion is. Also, I signed on today at 1:00 eastern for the first time. The lag was horrible. Then at the appointed 3:00 load testing time, omg! I got killed by the redcoats before I even saw any red dots on my compass!

That map needs serious help. I know I am in Port Royal! Where is the blacksmith's shop? Where is the forest? Where is the governor's mansion? Those are the things it should be showing not, Port Royal is here, and some far off island is there!

I sure hope they do something about the lag, because I do not have the patience to play through that!

If you use your right mouse key while sword fighting, an icon pops up for your skills, put your cursor over the sweep icon and let go.

Pink, seems the townsfolk are there to talk to during quests or sometimes offer you healing or a new quest task. Most of the time they don't seem to say much, but always good to check.

Ahoy , i saw you in the game last night as Tobias!, Bess BlueBonney here!!
as far as the "sweep" you have to use mouse right click to change to sword icon.


Dara- the mansion is to the far right, go to the far right of the beach, past the chickens, and go inland, there is forest/jungle to the right, and there is a gate

Sorry I was not more specific BBB and HD... I right click my mouse, but I get something that does NOT look like the swooshy sweep icon in the instructions. (It is also not the hack or slash icon - it is a straight red line.) I put my mouse over it anyway and let go - and nothing.

Is no sweep icon an new bug and you folks did this long ago enough that it was working then and not now? Anybody trained this weekend and have it work?

The mayor's mansion is on the right side of the island.
The blacksmith is the shop with the 2 swords on the sign.
The forest where you find Tia Dalma is on the left side. Go under the dead tree arch.

Sorry I was not more specific BBB and HD... I right click my mouse, but I get something that does NOT look like the swooshy sweep icon in the instructions. (It is also not the hack or slash icon - it is a straight red line.) I put my mouse over it anyway and let go - and nothing.

Is no sweep icon an new bug and you folks did this long ago enough that it was working then and not now? Anybody trained this weekend and have it work?

I re-did my character yesterday (as i they had done the clean sweep, LOL)
and re-trained, I spent a lot of time "practicing" maybe if you go back to the blacksmith shop and practice it will appear. it looks like a swoosh , circle icon
