POTC closing on May 11th

Haunted Mansion was closed for most of our last trip, but we were able to enjoy it once. The result, we rode Pirates 3 times.

This time, just about the opposite - we'll enjoy Haunted Mansion, but no Pirates.

But there are other Animatronics to be enjoyed instead.....it's a great big beautiful tomorrow.....shining at the end of every day....

Ohhhh I'm cutting it real close! Our check out day is Sept 26th and we plan on spending the day at MK. Hopefully it will be open so we can ride it before we leave.

Why can't it close in July. We'll be down there June 20-27 for our first trip and me and the kids were looking forward to riding it.

Bummer. If they are closing it for over the summer I am sure it needs a major rehab.

I agree, I wonder if there are going to add anything to the ride when it is being serviced. The timing stinks for us as we will be there late August

It was closed yesterday and today though according to the Disney official website. We were there this past weekend and it and Haunted Mansion were having issues. They're both due for some overhaul.

It is being announced all over so this looks like when the refurb will happen! Just glad its gonna be open in Nov!

The POTC refurb dates of May 11 - Sept 25 have been confirmed by Disney.

Anyone else feeling uneasy about riding it up until May 11th since they are saying the refurb is in regards to safety concerns? We will be there at the end of April and now I am not so sure I want to ride it...

Hooray! My trip is the week before that! Wow, I really got lucky!

That said, this is definitely a necessary refurb and I'm so excited to see what it looks like when it's done. It's such a beloved ride, but it certainly needs some TLC. I'm sorry for those who will miss it on their trips, though. On the bright side, there's so much else to do in Magic Kingdom that this refurb is unlikely to make or break anyone's trip.

I'm so excited. We're going on our first trip and we arrive on the 25th. I thought for sure it was going to still be under refurb while we were there!

We arrive on September 23rd for a week so at least we'll get to ride it before we leave (hopefully). If it reopens sooner, even better.

No. I can't imagine that they would let it stay open if there were gross safety issues. I would imagine getting sued is something they try to actively avoid.

we arrive at the Magic Kingdom 2 days before it goes down for refurb, so hoping it doesn't shutdown before that date, although it sounds like it sorely needs it.
