Me, my DH, and my group of friends all really liked it. No movie will beat the first one, but after the 3rd one, which I hated, this was way better. Wasn't bored at all.
in order of quality i would rate them............one, then two, then FOUR, then three............it was not bad..........i just think the blush is off the rose...........just loved the king in the beginning......and thank god for Barbossa.
i haven't seen it, but DD and DSIL did and loved it...
they also thought penelope cruz was great, as well as barbossa...
they said it was much better than POTC 3....(which wouldn't take much)...
We loved it too. Having just re-watched the first 3, I thought it was SO MUCH better than the third one and on-par with the first and second. Honestly, I didn't miss Keira and Orlando all that much. In my mind, the more Johnny Depp, the better!
Anyone else disappointed???? I love POTC and I especially love Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow...but I was actually bored during this one. I won't mention anything regarding the plot since I'm sure many haven't seen it yet but I found it all disappointing....
We liked it. Actually, I think we're taking my friend this weekend, too (she's a former CM ). Like PotC 3, I think I need to watch it a few more times to REALLY appreciate it. It was different... different director, different cast... etc. I REALLY didn't like Black Beard because he was so MEAN... but that means he did a GREAT acting job!! The 'air' was a different feel than 1, 2, and 3... but I wasn't disappointed.
Liked it a lot, but it certainly had its flaws. Some of the storylines were just left hanging, which is strange since the movie was nearly 2 1/2 hours long. But then other (gratuitous) scenes just dragged on forever. I loved the mermaids, but thought they should have done more with them as a group.
All in all, a couple of hours with Johnny Depp in 3D isn't such a bad way to spend a rainy afternoon.
I found myself a bit bored at times as well. Perhaps because so much seemed re-hashed. They've done it before. Even copied some fight sequences more or less. There is a fine line between homage and plain lazy and I think they crossed that line too much.
