Potatoes are out, Noodles are in at 'Ohana now

According to the All Ears website in the dining section where the menus are they have Ohanas updated. The only thing they added was the Shrimp on the skewers. The potatoes and bread pudding is still on the menu.

Yeah but that was changed almost 6 weeks ago....I have been keeping a close eye on the menus to see if there are any changes to the places we are eating at the end of this month. I think these changes are within the last week and allears has not updated it again

The changes sound great to me, except maybe for the dumplings.

Yeah that's a lot of pineapple. Then again it is supposed to be a Polynesian-themed restaurant. :rolleyes1
Why would go to a Polynesian-themed restaurant to eat potatoes and bread pudding ?? That's like going to Marrakesh and eating BBQ ribs. There are enough places in WDW for the meat-and-potatoes lovers (and we'll be going to several of them too). It's nice to have a place with a little more exotic food.

Hopefully, if that menu makes 'Ohana less popular the service will improve as well.

I'm with you! We are going for the first time in April. I love potatoes and they did sound good, but in no way Polynesian.

I find it amusing that people gripe about 'dumbing down the menus' and when Disney tries to make a menu more authentic people still complain.:confused3 I am not a fan of pineapple in savory dishes, but I'm willing to try it with an open mind.

Couldn't agree more.

Some people are just never happy. :sad2:

I was there Thurs. night and it sounds like I got the last of the potatoes. The wontons were gone, and replaced with the dumplings, which I liked. The bread pudding was still there. I do not like bread pudding so we asked for pineapple and sauce and were told they they will not replace that for bread pudding now, you have to pay an extra charge for the pinapple.

Is the new noodle dish like the noodle lo mein type of dish they used to serve at Ohana's years and years ago?

I've never been to 'Ohana but I want to get this summer when we'll be back at Disney, I think the noodles sound good since I don't really know what I'm missing with the other dishes. I really wanted to try the bread pudding though, so I hope it's still on the menu (though I like pineapple as well so either would be fine).

I'm a little concerned about the meats though, I don't eat steak or shrimp so I hope they keep both the turkey and pork on the skewers.

Even with the changes I still want to try 'Ohana since I've never been before, change isn't always bad just something new to get used to. I don't go to disney world all that often (we try for once a year) so I kind of expect the menus to change on a year-to-year basis.

I've not eaten there (yet), but from the menu descriptions, it looks like you either eat meat or something sweet.

Thank you for doing this for me! I was going to go through the list but was pulled away from the boards for a time.

I wonder why anyone gives a rip if someone goes to a certain restaurant or not? Unless I own the restaurant, or a family member of mine does, I don't care if someone doesn't like the menu and decides not to go.

Can't speak for everyone, personally I don't care where someone eats. By all means if the menu doesn't appeal to you, don't go.

But it does get on my nerves when people say Disney ruined a Polynesian-themed restaurant by putting pineapple in the dishes, and getting rid of a few things that didn't fit the theme at all.
They're making the food a tad more authentic, apparently the way it used to be a few years ago (wasn't there to see it).

Three fourth of the restaurants in WDW serve some kind of dead-cow-and-spud variation, how about we let this one stand out a little ?

Exactly.

I posted on the other Ohana thread, but I'm going to post here too.

I loved the potatoes at Ohana, but they did not fit the theme. I'm also glad to try new things, and I think the pasta dish sounds good. :goodvibes I'm still hoping someone posts a pic soon. ;)

Disney will never be able to please everybody 100% of the time. Trying new foods has never hurt anyone, and change can be good, and I think we should all give the new menu items a chance, before we all say we're never going to eat there again.

I'm glad they are keeping the dead cow.

Anyone catch Anthony Bourdain in Hawaii recently? I doubt, anything on Ohana's menu, new, old, or otherwise, could ever be interpreted as authentic Polynesian.

That said, I will still be ticked if they get rid of the bread puddin!

Yeah. Where is the Spam on the menu?

Yeah. Where is the Spam on the menu?

That's too funny!!! :rotfl2: Don't forget the poi and isn't pineapple originally from South America anyway?:goodvibes

For the record, I think everyone is entitled to their opionion and if they don't like the changes that's their choice. I will miss the bread pudding, but it's not gonna ruin 'Ohana for me or DH...sorry if that bothers people.

We have reservations in a couple weeks and I think we will keep them. I have to admit last year we refilled the potatoe dish many times and were looking forward to them this year. It will probably be a good thing as we ate to many. Hopefully they still have the bread pudding or at least we will read on the dis so we can change if we have to. We are creatures of habit and do not really like change.

Someone in another 'Ohana thread mentioned peanuts in the sauce, but OP didn't mention peanuts at all.

Just wondering where the peanuts stand?
