potato whitener alternative

I am looking for alternative to keep potato white. I was using a product called potato whitener but the FDA took it off the market. Putting the potatoes in water is not an option. We grind them up to make homemade potato pancake batter.

If you are using onions in the batter as well, grind or shred them alternating with the potatoes and then toss them together. The acid from the onion keeps them from browning.
